Welcome to the start of a special mini-series on Relationships After Hurt.
In this multi-part series, we are exploring a deeply important question: How does past hurt shape the way we show up in our relationships?
In this opening episode, I reflect on how emotional wounds and past experiences can quietly influence our trust, our boundaries, and the way we connect with others. I share parts of my own story—how starting open and vulnerable eventually revealed subtle patterns of control and quiet criticism that I didn’t recognize at the time.
So often, we move through relationships on autopilot, reacting from old wounds rather than true awareness. Healing takes time. For me, it meant stepping away from relationships for a season to re-ground myself, rebuild my self-worth, and learn what a healthy connection actually looks like.
This episode sets the foundation for our entire series. We’re talking about the invisible scars we carry, the lessons we learn, and why giving yourself space to heal can be one of the most powerful steps you take before opening your heart again.
