Just Gals Being Pals: A Xena Celebration

Xena tries to help some villagers attacked by a hooded figure, but she ends up on trial for her crimes against humanity instead. Gabrielle does her best Perry Mason impression, while Ares tries to tempt her to the dark side.

Gabby hangs out at the bar with a prince, while Xena goes to rescue his princess from a slimy arms trader trying to start a war. Along the way, she meets up with her hot, not-really-all-that-evil ex Marcus.

Xena, Gabby and Pandora's granddaughter take care of a baby for a while until they can pawn it off on the king, and we learn that the real Hope was the friends we met along the way.

Gabby gets kidnapped to either become Morpheus' bride or lose her blood innocence — err… "murder virginity," and Xena has to go rescue her inside a dream, with the help of a creepy old dude who wants to rub oil all over her.

Gabrielle hangs out in a bar and has bad taste in men, while Xena gets shot in the gut with an arrow, gets ignored by dumb villagers because she's both a warrior and a woman, and has to play surrogate mom to Very Caring Dad and his kids. Bad shoes, frantic leaps, and flying watermelons ensue. Eventually she escapes from this hellscape of peaceful family life and takes Gabrielle with her.

Our first episode of the Xena series proper! Xena meets Gabrielle for the first time, goes to visit her home village where everyone hates her — including her mom — and performs a tricky balancing act to get Draco out of her town.

Theres a lot to process in this episode — Salmoneus has a panic attack and has to process whether he's a coward, Xena and Iolaus have to process their previous toxic gaslit relationship, and we have to process a very regrettable digital monster. But Herc is only processing his boner.

This week, Xena is still pretty evil, but at least she's not into killing women and children. Trouble is, her men are totally into it, and this becomes a problem. Xena dons her goin' out armor to strike fear and boners into the heart of her enemies, and Hercules totally falls for her puppy dog eyes. But what will Iolaus think‽

We start our podcast with the very first appearance of Xena in Hercules: The Legendary Journeys s01e09 “The Warrior Princess.” Xena isn't quite herself yet, but we talk about her first adventure, what's new, and what's to come. Battle — errr… seduce on, Xena!
