This film truly is a Horror by the numbers film. This was a cookie cutter pre-spooky season horror flick that high school kids will go with their friends to see on a nice cool autumn night. I didn’t hate it. I didn’t love it. Wouldn’t watch it again and wouldn’t recommend it, but it wasn’t unwatchable. Cool story and lore.

Episode 34! FROM BLACK (2023) Movie Review! Directed and written by Thomas Marchese. Co-Written by Jessub Flower.

It wasn’t the best of times. It wasn’t the worst of times. Thomas Marchese is very stylistic in his framed shots and I believe with free reign to make a movie he truly wants, the way he wants, he could really create something visually poetic. Reminds of Anything for Jackson. But this film is serious in tone all the way through. It didn't really stick the landing for me, but I still liked the film and story. It felt like it needed more time.
