This week, I sit down with Chism McEntire to talk about her life story. And let me tell you, there's SO much to talk about that we had to break this up into 2 episodes. In part 1, she opens up about her dad abandoning her, what it was like when college basketball ended, finding the courage to step out in her purpose, and how therapy helped her find God amidst all the muck. We laugh, we cry, we talk about tacos and tequila. Enjoy!
In this episode, I sit down with my two Nashville besties, Hannah and Autumn, who wrote the title track to Reba's Grammy-nominated album, Stronger Than The Truth. We talk about Nashville, the music industry, the story behind the song, rejection, and preserving through the tough times as a creative. It's part fun and part deep, but inspiring all the way through. P.S. You'll hear the song LIVE at the end!

**Disclaimer: This episode has sensitive subject matter referring to suicide.
Patsy and I have waited years and years to tell our story, and the day has finally come. We met by chance, and I wouldn't know until 6 months later that our meeting actually saved her life. In this episode, Patsy shares her story of addictions (food, alcohol, etc.), depression, and suicide attempts-- and how one act of kindness changed her life forever. Even though I am involved in this story, I had never heard it until we recorded live on the podcast. I literally cannot wait for you to listen to her heart!

In episode 5, my sweet friend Jenni Sheneman opens up about her childhood trauma--from a broken home to her mother's imprisonment. We chat about how difficult moving is, the trap of comparison, and how important transforming pain is--and how she heard God's voice every step of the way.

For Valentine's week, I sit down my hubby Andrew as he shares what it was like to be a rock for our family during the hardest years of our lives. He's a special needs dad (2 of our boys have a rare esophageal condition called Eosinophilic Esophagitis), worked crazy work schedules to provide for our family, endured job rejection after job rejection as we tried to move to Nashville, and supported me as I pursued my dreams. I respect him and I love hime--and I really wanted y'all to get a glimpse of our story through his eyes. If you don't know a lot about our story, go back and listen to the bonus solo episode I posted on January 31!
Join me this week as I talk with psychotherapist and friend, Kim Honeycutt, about being physically abused by her mother. She used alcohol to cope at an early age, but found sobriety at age 24. Now, she lives her life helping others work through trauma and advocating to normalize mental health. Check out her book "But Your Mother Loves You" and her speaking ministry called ICU Talks. After re-listening to last week's episode, I decided to share from my heart about my own mental health journey: how I got diagnosed with complex PTSD, how it affected my life in positive and negative ways, and how I've found freedom through a team of doctors and a support system. I hope that through my own personal experiences other people can find hope too, as we figure out how to just keep living through life's toughest moments. Together, and with Jesus, we can do this!

In episode 2, I'm chatting with my friend Moniqua Acosta, professor at Augusta University and owner of Space Yoga Studio in Augusta, GA. We chat about PTSD, triggers, trauma, the brain, therapy, grief--and how retraining our brains and creating new pathways can literally stop trauma from passing down to our children and grandchildren. It's a fascinating and challenging listen!
