Episode 82.
Good friend Colin Ainscough joins me at a most exclusive location in Tokyo today.Home to the rich and famous, neither of us are neither of these,Colin fits into the fixtures and fittings of the place.
I first met him almost 9 years to the day after my return to Japan,he'd brought me on board when l was desperate for work,at the time having none and having 3 mouths to feed,on a recommendation of a mutual friend.
The first night of the job l saw him scare the piss out of a kid almost a third his age and thought this is my guy.
So sorry its been a while life has been getting in the way hope this makes up for it all.

Eventually, finally and at last the podcast has a guest for what is was built for.
I came up with this idea for a podcast in early 2019.Lots and lots of tourists had realized that Japan was not as expensive as its reputation and was slowly welcoming visitors from all around the World.l thought it would be a good idea to build up a following a year before the Olympics and then interview some English speaking athletes that come over here to compete. And we all know how that turned out.Two and a half years after we were all locked in tourists have finally made the return today on the 10 th of September.lt will be a while afore the change is noticeable, but it has started.
My guest today is a friend of mine,Dale.A Brit who was taken Down Under by boat in the late 50s on a journey that moulded his wanderlust, which still burns inside of him in his mid 60s.
I enjoyed this interview thoroughly and l hope you do too.

The things you dream up when you have time off.
While looking at Google maps for the closest shop that sells bags of protein l saw that there was a ferry that runs from Yokosuka in Kanagawa over to Chiba across Tokyo Bay.Then in my mind l joined the dots and realized that you can cycle the entire loop of Tokyo Bay.
So just like an itch you can’t scratch it was there in my head just pulling at my psyche, so around the back end of August at 4:30am off l went and here is the audio accompaniment to the film on my You Tube channel.

The last ride in my Hokkaido jaunt. The final push towards the Norths capital,Sapporo.
On leaving Asahikawa lm not sure if it’s excitingly boring or boringly exciting it was just one of those towns that you pass through every now and again that make you go hmm.
Now Sapporo that is a different kettle of fish,a real Tokyo vibe about it with a much cleaner, healthier and cooler atmosphere.A bearable 28c to it,but you know just around the corner at the end of September that winter is going to come a knocking till April.
I will be planning one more ride before normal episodes resume with my co-host Duncan.l don’t want to say what it is in case l don’t complete it and look like a sayer not a doer.Don’t worry if l do do it it will be shouted from the rooftops.
So thank you all again from the downloads and support and see you all soon.

Another great day on my steel steed rolling hills down the coast to Rumoi to my dodgy cheap hotel that provided me with a great nights sleep.
The joy of junk food and guilt free gorging because us long distance cyclists know it will be all worked off the following day.

I’m knocking out these podcast episodes as l edit the You Tube clips and get them all posted on the inter web.
This was one of my best days in the saddle in Japan, one of those days where everything goes right.Weather, food the road, music, just everything.
And to top it off l ended up on a free.campsite with a Japanese onsen to ease away those aches and pains.
As always thank you for listening and normal broadcasts will resume shortly when l get back to Kanagawa.

I Shot the Shogun but I swear I was in cargo pants.
Who would've thought that Boris Johnson resigning in the UK wouldn't have been the biggest political story of the day.
A ex-military man marches up being ex-PM Shinzo Abe and puts 2 in him from a homemade gun.
Unheard of in living memory and especially shocking as its happened in Japan where gun laws are SO strict that it is almost impossible to own a weapon.
The ex-PM was drumming up support for his party the LDP and as usual with these rallies he's up on a soapbox giving his speech with minimal security, the likes which will be changed when the dust settles.
As usual sit back and enjoy,
Darren and Duncan.
