  • Self-discipline Sunday

Having self-discipline is tough. Mastering oneself, controlling emotions, and getting things done no matter the circumstance. If you can discipline yourself you will be able to accomplish anything you put your mind too. Here’s a proverb that’s helps me with discipline and I believe this will help you too.

Proverbs 29:18 – Where there is no revelation people cast off restraint, but blessed are those who heed wisdom’s instruction.

In other words: Where there is no vision, the people perish. (Perish does not mean to die or be destroyed. It means to lack self-control or discipline. If you don’t know where you’re going any road will take you there.) The reciprocal of this proverb is also true: Where there is clear and strong vision, the people prosper. When there is a vision of conquest, the people conquer. Where there is a vision of adventure, the people will live daring and exciting lives. You can make your life be anything you want it to be and it beings with vision!

  • Fuel your Fire Friday with Focus

Passion is an emotion very strong and barely controllable, a burning desire from within, your fuel in the fire of action. Passion needs discipline to serve a purpose. Then what you contribute will be profitable and beneficial. I am passionate with words and I choose to use my voice to promote positivity, helping, leading and encouraging individuals to be their best version of themselves. Take all that energy and passion you have inside and direct it to doing something meaningful in life.

  • Top-notch Top-performance Thursday

Every company has a mission statement that usually reflects its purpose of the entity, vision of where they’re headed, and values for what they believe in. These three components set the tone for the culture of the organization and how business shall be conducted. Now we know everyone doesn’t uphold these principles every day, and today is different. It is a top-notch top-performance Thursday meaning rise the bar and operate out of a spirit of excellence, doing everything of the highest quality, being better, faster and more efficient. Show up to work early and leave later, to the salesman make another sells call, to the realtor show another property, to the basketball player shoot a thousand free throws, to the receptionist respond to all the emails, to the bloggers write another article, to the dancers go over the routine one more time. Whatever you do treat it like your business and be outstanding.

  • Wishful Wednesday

If I was playing the role of genie and I granted you three wishes just like Aladdin in the movie, what would you wish for? (The same rules as the movie would apply about making the wishes: You cannot wish for more wishes, wish to kill or bring back anyone from the dead, and cannot wish for anyone to fall in love with you.) We all have desires in hope for something to happen. You hear people talking about, “I want to be in the NFL, I want to be wealthy, I want to be a doctor, lawyer…” or the other saying, “I wish I would’ve done this, I should’ve, I could’ve…” but you didn’t. The problem is when you wish for something there is work that has to be done. Let me use myself as an example: I am inspired to write a book. The book is not just going to write itself. I have to pick a topic, next come up with a plan to publish, promote, and do other things. Then start to write a paragraph or page a day, and last finish what I started. It’s not going to happen overnight, but eventually it will get completed. Now you are reading my work. Don’t wish for it if you are not willing to work towards it.

  • Teachable Tuesday

There are many areas in our life that has limits on them because we are not teachable. The mind has unlimited capacity and it is like a parachute, it works when you open it. When you keep it closed you suffer tremendously. For instance, I hear many college graduates say, “I’ll never read another book again or write another paper.” What that’s doing is subconsciously putting a limit on their mental development. What about the things we say about our finances or career like “I’ll start saving for retirement later or I’m financially secure with a good job and salary.” We are setting ourselves up for failure because one stream of income is not security and nearly 80% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck. We need to do better by opening up our minds and being teachable so we can continual to grow as individuals in all areas of our life. Every day I try to learn something new, it keeps my mind sharp and relevant. Be teachable.

  • Mentoring Monday

Do you have anyone in your life that you admire and it can be for whatever reason; like someone that’s been married for 40+ years and you need advice on keeping your marriage going or someone that’s successful doing what you dreamed of and you need guidance to getting to where they are at. Like I said, “Whatever the case may be,” hopefully your answer was yes. Awesome, the next step is asking those individuals for their expertise. I am surprised by how many people that are afraid of asking for help. There are plenty of good people out here that would love to help mentor you, just don’t waste their time and do what they say. Having a mentor can get you to your destination much quicker.

  • Solutions Sunday

When dealing with a difficult situation, the ability to solve the issue shows how valuable you are. Exercising different skill-sets like effective communication, critical thinking, leadership and so forth. This is what keeps you employed because if you weren’t solving a problem than you would not be needed, same with businesses. The greatest lesson I’ve learned is to never placed the problem on people. The problem is the problem and the people are there to solve the problem. For example, managing money in a relationship is the problem, not the man or the woman. Putting the blame on the man or woman forfeits the chance of actually solving the problem. The solution is creating a budget together to allocate where the money will be spent instead of wonder where it went. Giving the couple the opportunity to discover their skill-sets in regards to solving that problem. Allow the obstacles you encounter be a way to work on your skill-sets and providing solutions.

  • Sacrificing Saturday

How bad do you want it? Your dreams and goals? It’s going to take something to accomplish them. Are you willing to pay the price for what you desire? No one has become successful without giving up something. Make sure whatever you do is worth your time and energy. My favorite basketball player Kobe Bryant had the mentality of being the best ever in that sport. He was willing to work on his craft more than anyone during his era and through his performance's it showed. Be willing to work harder than anyone so you can be on top. What are you willing to sacrifice?

  • Figure-It-Out Friday

All of us can agree on what I’m about to say, “We don’t know everything.” Which is good and a little discouraging. Not knowing it all gives us an opportunity to explore, seek, pursue, show effort towards whatever we are trying to find. On the other side it can make us stagnate meaning getting stuck because of the fear of the unknown. There are several ways to figure things out and don’t be afraid because it is better to do something than do nothing at all. Use your creative mind to figure-it-out.

I never finished college and that made me have to figure out certain things in the workforce for employment, working smarter and harder. Degree or no degree, the point is not having all the answers allows you to find a solution. In the business world the bigger the problem, the bigger your pay will be for solving that problem. Once again use your creative mind to figure-it-out.
