When I was younger, I would like to rush things and I would miss out in truly enjoying that moment. Especially when it came to eating food, lifting weights, and talking to the opposite sex. Now I like to take my time and get the most out of everything. I am very detail oriented about my work making sure it’s excellent and with relationships, I value what we establish. It is beneficial to be thorough because the more you know what you want the easier it is to making decisions. Understand that your plans don’t come into fruition overnight, it takes time. Everyone wants to be at the top, but everyone doesn’t realize what it takes to actually get there. If you were to climb the highest mountain on earth Mount Everest, standing 29,029 feet tall, you would want to examine yourself to see if you have the attributes to complete the task. Are you physically fit for the two-month expedition, mentally tough with the ability to focus under intense weather, and do you have technical and mountaineer experience? In route to the top you have to understand there are many risks to consider when reaching certain heights such as exposure to subfreezing temperatures, high altitudes causing shortness of breath and other health effects, what about getting caught in a storm, falling off the mountain, or sweep up in an avalanche. You have to have a made-up mind if you want to climb.

What are some mountains you are dealing with or in other words what are some challenges you’re experiencing in life?

Examine yourself and know you have everything in you to climb your mountain and be on top! It may be risky and that just means a bigger reward. Like I said, “You have to have a made-up mind if you want to climb. Take one step at a time on this mountain climbing Monday!”

In the story the Tortoise and the Hare you learn a value lesson. You have two components that are unequal and they are going to race. The tortoise being simple and discipline. The hare being sure of himself and unruly. The race begins, the hare jumps off to a fast start to get ahead thinking he can take a nap and coast. The tortoise has basically one speed, taking one step at a time but being consist. The moral of the story is that you can be way more successful by doing things slow and steady than being confident and careless. Do something simple and be discipline about doing that thing every day, consistency is key. Slow and steady always wins the race.

No days off is the world we live in. You have to go hard every day that’s what they say. Well doing that will get you burned out. Speaking from experience in 2017, I worked 355 days out of the year. I was on one, lived life to the fullest, made a lot of money and miss out on very important events with my family. It was too much for me, I realized that I needed balance in life. Have more days to slack off, just chill and relax. Even God took a day off after creating the world in six days. Take notes, it’s ok to kick-it or rest. It’s healthy, you get to reflect, revise, and rejuvenate your body. It’s ok to slack off with a purpose, just don’t abuse it with being lazy.

“Family members help each other,” the words my dad would preach to me, mom, and my three older siblings while growing up. That saying stills goes on today and we abide by that rule our dad instilled in us. Though we may have our differences we still are able to keep a very close bond. We call on each other often to check on one another, we visit each other and are able to go out to dinner, movies, travel and do fun activities together. It is truly amazing and I am blessed to have them in my life. I don’t have a perfect family, but I do have a good one. One thing I’ve learn from them is that we love and support each other no matter what and that is what allows our bond to be so great. Sometimes the love and support get in the way of being a hindrance because we have each other as a safety net. Anyways we appreciate each other and respect one another. We live in a narcissistic society where everything is about me, me, me, me, me… Look at me, did you see me do this, blah blah blah. That’s good and all but life doesn’t revolve you. Here’s a challenge for you today: Think of something simple or out of the box that you can do for someone else that will make them look at you and say, “Aw that was kind and thoughtful.”

A short thoughtful story: Our family motto is “Family members help each other” and at this particular time in my life I was transitioning with looking for a job. Anyways, I receive a call from my sister and she gave me some words of encouragement saying, “I’m never to busy for you, if you need any help with going over interview questions or whatever I’m here for you and want to see you succeed!” Hearing these words meant the word to me and I thanked her and said, “How thoughtful.”

You can tell a whole lot about someone through their conversation, where they spend their money, and also where they dedicate their time. There are a lot of things that we worship other than our God. You cannot love two masters, you either love one and hate the other. I struggled with this because my conversation, my money spent, and time was dedicated to the wrong things, all my fleshy desires. I have to be discipline every day to reverence God and put Him first in my life. Praying, reading, and worshiping Him through my lifestyle because He gets all the glory and honor out of my life.
