Ambassador Samantha Power, an immigrant from Ireland, dreamed of becoming a sports journalist. But as she watched unedited tape of the Tiananmen Square Massacre as a college intern at CBS, her passion to fight for human rights was activated. She began her career as a war correspondent in Bosnia, eventually writing a book on the American response to genocide, which then-Senator Barack Obama read and took Samantha under his wing. She went on to serve on President Obama's National Security Council and as the country's UN Ambassador.
