Just Us Talking episodes

  • Misunderstood Characters, Hot Takes, And Adulting 101

Quiet on set, phones on mute, and chaos fully activated. We’re back with a special announcement: Lawrence is officially joining the Just Us Talking universe! And Kennedy’s mom Darla pulls up as our guest with stories, opinions, and zero fear of the group’s nonsense. Lawrence picks the topics and we jump into the kind of questions that turn a casual hang into an all-out argument.

We start with misunderstood villains and characters who might actually be justified, from childhood classics to big franchise lore. Then we flip it and call out “heroes” who are low-key wrong, including Marvel decisions that still make people mad. If you love pop culture analysis, movie character morality, rewatch hot takes, and the messiness of fandom logic, you’ll feel right at home.

Things get surprisingly practical when we talk about what should be mandatory in school: taxes, health insurance, basic car maintenance, cooking, parenting basics, and even the lost art of having a normal conversation. Then we draft a starting five of Bible characters for a pickup basketball game, because apparently that’s a necessary life skill too. Finally, we hit the most controversial topic of the day: should pets be treated like children, or like animals with boundaries, training, and realistic expectations? The debate gets deep, cultural, and hilarious, and it ends with an unforgettable vet-trip disaster story.

Subscribe for more chaotic question rounds, share this with a friend who loves a hot take, and leave a review with your most unpopular opinion so we can argue about it next time.

  • Funniest Moments From Just Us Talking

We took a break from recording this week, but we still wanted to show up with something that feels like hanging out with us in real life, so we pulled together a compilation of our favorite funny moments and the most chaotic stories we can’t stop quoting.

The clips jump fast, but the thread is simple: friendship, confession, and comedy that comes from telling the truth a little too loudly. A gym employee smiles and says “happy birthday,” and suddenly we’re spiraling into the question everyone has asked at least once: how do they know that? We get into a semi truck accident story, then we bring back our favorite rule that we immediately break: “we listen and we don’t judge.” From there it’s dating app panic, flirting failures, and the now-legendary opener “what’s your favorite door handle?” that proves trying to be clever can absolutely backfire.

We also hit some wild detours: bizarre history about a medieval “zoo,” a string of hamster horror stories, the pure joy of clean sheets after a shower, and service-industry pet peeves that every former server or barista will recognize. Then we go deep on irrational fears, a foot injury story that explains everything, a Home Depot zombie apocalypse plan, and yes, a real cockroach falling from the ceiling mid-recording.

If you love a funny podcast that feels like a group chat with mics, this one is for you. Subscribe, share it with a friend who needs a laugh, and leave a review so more people can find Just Us Talking. DM us if you want to be a guest!

  • Worst Injuries And Lies You Were Told As A Kid Ft. Special Guests!

Tyree is out of town and Lawrence is back, so this episode lacks its "structure". It's Kennedy's turn to pick the topics and she brings on 2 special guests! Kennedy's sister Vale, walks onto the mic and casually drops the most intense story of the night: a Fourth of July water balloon fight that ends with shattered glass and stitches. From there, we go full roundtable and try to top each other with worst injury stories, from a broken foot mid-sprint to horse falls that crack a helmet, an ankle sprain so swollen it looks unreal, and a chipped tooth that turns into a whole dental saga.

We also get into the weird middle space where pain becomes comedy: wisdom teeth experiences and how post-surgery emotions turn you into someone who suddenly needs to text everyone you love. Vale makes one more appearance to rank the entire household in a way that only a fearless kid can, and then we bring on GREY, the behind-the-scenes sound guy people keep asking about, for a mini hot seat.

The back half is pure “why are we like this” fun: childhood lies we believed (gum in your stomach for seven years, seeds growing into trees, the car light being illegal), plus quirks and sensory triggers like pruny fingers, sock seams, loud bathrooms, even-number volume settings, and the absolute necessity of chapstick. If you love funny podcast storytelling, relatable habits, and friend-group chaos, press play.

If this made you laugh or cringe, subscribe, share it with a friend, and leave a review. What’s the most ridiculous lie you believed as a kid?

  • Our Random Notes, Bucket Lists, And Best Impressions

It's Mary Grace's turn to pick the topics!  We scroll through the funniest, most random notes we’ve saved and somehow uncover everything from mysterious numbers and “future me” warnings to the kind of to-do list that reads like a crisis plan. The laughs come fast, but the real fun is hearing how a single line can unlock a whole story, a whole season of life, or a whole personality.

Then we call in backup: Mary Grace’s youngest brother joins on speaker to share an embarrassing football practice story that escalates in the most brutal way, and another sibling follows with a pep rally moment that turns into an unexpected solo performance in front of the entire school. We also read a couple more family stories that are equal parts secondhand stress and comedy gold. If you love storytelling, sibling chaos, and the kind of humor that feels like hanging out with friends, this stretch delivers.

From there, we shift into bucket list ideas and dream scenarios, from Greece and Italy to Northern Lights, “those boats in Venice,” Cash Cab, and big life goals like starting a coffee shop or owning land. We get surprisingly thoughtful with a faith-filled question about what we’d ask Jesus and what we’d want to experience first in heaven, then immediately whiplash into impressions and accents because that’s who we are. We close with a classic: if we were rich tomorrow, what’s the first thing we’d have to buy, and why does it involve massages, a personal chef, and a Coca-Cola Freestyle machine?

  • Morgan's Enrichment Corner

Today it's Morgans turn to pick the topics and Lawrence returns to witness our chaos! Every friend group has a language of its own, and ours is apparently built out of Chick-fil-A sauce ratios, a running quote book, and the confidence to say wild things out loud. We kick off with everyone’s go-to order and immediately prove that food preferences are basically personality profiles, especially when someone casually drops “30-count nuggets and a milkshake” for breakfast like it’s normal behavior.

Then Morgan opens the vault: a real quote book full of out-of-context lines we’ve collected for years, and we play “guess who said it” with the kind of quotes that make you laugh first and process later. From there, we pivot into a genuine greatest-album debate where we defend our picks, talk about what makes a record feel timeless, and admit when a soundtrack has our heart.

To keep the chaos rolling, we go rapid-fire on overrated vs underrated takes and try to identify movies from Morgan's Letterboxd reviews with no context, which is harder than it sounds when the reviews are unhinged. We close by pitching SNL audition ideas and sketch characters, including a painfully accurate retail checkout moment that deserves its own skit.

If you like a comedy podcast that feels like a real hang, hit play, subscribe, and share it with a friend who would absolutely belong in our quote book. Listen, leave a review and.... If you'd like to be a guest please comment explaining what you'd bring to the table ;)

  • Favorite Teachers, Last Meals, And Things We Don't Understand

We took a break for the 4th of July but now we're back! We hand the reins to Gracie, she picks all the topics and brings on a special guest... her boyfriend Lawrence! We immediately spiral into the kind of funny, painfully relatable honesty that only happens when friends are comfortable enough to roast each other and still feel safe.

Lawrence takes the hot seat and delivers two all-time stories: the American Eagle changing room curtain incident (yes, it’s exactly as bad as it sounds) and a mission-trip moment that turns awkward in the most unexpected way. From there we zoom out into the get-to-know-you questions people secretly love: the list of jobs that shaped him as well as travel, from being born in Japan, coming to the U.S. and falling in love with Africa, we cover a lot!

Then we go full nostalgia with favorite teachers, school memories, and the weird years that made us who we are. We close with two crowd-pleasers: “last meal on earth” (pizza, sushi, southern comfort food, breakfast spreads) and the most honest question of all, what we’re too scared to admit we don’t understand, from taxes and stocks to car maintenance, geography, time zones, and why the wedding industry costs what it costs. If you like a friendship podcast with big laughs, real stories, and relatable life talk, you’ll feel right at home. Subscribe, comment, share this with a friend who loves a good hot seat, and leave a review so more people can find us. But finally, we have an important question, should Lawerence become a more regular host??

  • Memories, Marvel, And The Mythical Taco Bell Job

David picks the topics for this episode, so brace yourself! We start by swapping our earliest memories of meeting each other, comparing first impressions, and reliving the moments that still live rent-free in our heads, from worship team connections to prom sightings. If you love friendship stories, awkward beginnings, and the way community forms in real life, this one is for you.

Then we jump into movie nostalgia and superhero debates, calling out childhood favorites and the films we watched on repeat, plus where we land today on Spider-Man and the broader Marvel lineup. Expect opinions on the OG Avengers era, underrated picks, and the scenes that still hurt.

The conversation turns more honest when we talk about motivation and purpose: what drives us to get up, go to work, chase goals, and try to live with excellence. We share how our Christian faith shapes that drive, what it looks like to be a light in everyday rooms. We end with lighter chaos (strangest foods we’ve eaten, hobbies, sleep routines) and then a big question: where would we be if we didn’t follow Jesus?

If you enjoyed the mix of funny stories and real life perspective, subscribe, share this with a friend, and leave a review so more people can find us. What part of the conversation sounded most like your friend group?

  • Boohbahs, Seatbelts, And The Fart That Lied

Our first guest steps into the Just Us Talking group chat in real life, and we do not go easy on him. Daniel joins us for a birthday-picked lineup of topics from Tyree, starting with a “most embarrassing moment” ritual that instantly becomes the benchmark for every future guest.

After the chaos, we wander into the kind of honest, slightly unhinged nostalgia that makes you text your friends mid-listen. We debate gross childhood habits, argue about pool behavior, and unlock a shared memory vault of weird kids shows growing up, from Boohbahs and Teletubbies energy to Fraggle Rock, Oobie, LazyTown, Yo Gabba Gabba, and more. If you’re into nostalgic podcasts, PBS Kids throwbacks, and the question “why was that allowed on TV,” you’ll feel seen.

Then the conversation turns grounded and meaningful as we share favorite Bible stories and scripture, including Jonah, Mary Magdalene, Moses, Rahab, Gideon, the bleeding woman, and the friends who bring the paralyzed man to Jesus. We talk about faith, forgiveness, courage, and the kind of friendships that carry you when you can’t get to hope on your own. We wrap with favorite summer memories, theme park takes, and a rapid-fire “summer themed hot seat”.

If you laughed, cringed, or got encouraged, subscribe so you don’t miss the next hang, share this with a friend who loves story time, and leave a review to help more people find Just Us Talking. What’s the weirdest show you watched as a kid?

  • Kennedy's Hot Seat Episode

Kennedy finally takes the hot seat, and what starts as a goofy “what shoe are you” question turns into a full personality map. We talk about her real work life in early childhood education, and why she’s aiming for kindergarten through second grade once she finishes her degree. If you’re curious about teaching, childcare, and the behind-the-scenes reality of working with toddlers, she gives the kind of answers you only get when someone is being both funny and honest.

Then we let the conversation do what it does best: swerve into the stories that somehow explain everything. Kennedy shares the childhood creativity that still shows up in her life, from building forts and makeshift “inventions” to taking on the big-sister organizer role. We get her desert-island movie picks (rom-com lovers, you’re welcome), including While You Were Sleeping, Fools Rush In, and The Hunger Games. And yes, we go there on irrational fears, including lockjaw, tetanus panic, and the very specific nightmare of losing her left arm.

We also hit travel and identity: why Belgium completely surprised her, what makes food feel authentic when you’re abroad, favorite animals, and her Canadian side, including famous Canadians and spicy takes on Quebec. We wrap with what she hopes people see in her, what younger Kennedy would be proud of, and what matters most right now: faith, family, and the future she’s building.

  • Gracie Takes The Hot Seat

A kid gets hurt in a backyard game and Gracie’s first instinct is still “Gotcha, you’re out.” That’s the energy we bring to Gracie’s Hot Seat: fast questions, unfiltered answers, and the kind of friendship chemistry where one story turns into five more before anyone can breathe.

We bounce from childhood tomboy memories to pop culture obsessions, including the fictional characters she felt weirdly connected to, the crime-show leads she’s convinced are her alter ego, and her desert island movie picks. Then we take the chaos up a notch with a live Hunger Games call to a surprise guest to settle the Team Gale vs Team Peeta debate! Plus plenty of side quests like VSCO-era confessions, celebrity crushes, and a surprisingly passionate breakdown of what belongs on a hot dog.

But the heart of the conversation lands where identity gets real. Gracie opens up about becoming a teacher, traveling as a nanny, and facing a turning point in college when she felt God calling her to give up softball as an idol. We talk sports pressure, faith that moves from head knowledge to heart knowledge, and what it looks like to coach without letting performance define you.

If you like friendship podcasts with humor, nostalgia, and honest Christian faith conversations, this one hits. Subscribe, share it with a friend who loves a good hot seat, and leave a review telling us: what’s your desert island movie trio?
