Jim Jordan is STILL in criminal defiance of a subpoena. He violated a subpoena that sought his testimony about the democracy-busting crimes of Donald Trump. But Jordan chose to defy the subpoena and hide the evidence of Trump's crimes from Congress and, by extension, from the American people. Even with all that, Jordan created a "Weaponization of Government Committee" claiming that the Department of Justice is being weaponized AGAINST Republicans. This is an absurd contention given that, in recent months alone the DOJ has prosecuted democrat after democrat: Sen. Bob Menendez, Rep. Henry Cuellar, Hunter Biden, and most Recently New York City Mayor Eric Adams.

Glenn had the interesting experience a few days ago of testifying before Jordan's subcommittee and was attacked by one of Jordan's "henchwomen" Rep. Harriet Hageman. Today's podcast has audio excerpts of the discussion.

Trump appointed Judge Aileen Cannon did favor after favor for Donald Trump while she was presiding over his Classified Documents/Obstruction of Justice/Espionage case, and was reversed by an appeals court for abusing her discretion and acting in ways the law didn't allow. Then, Cannon dismissed Trump's criminal case contrary to prevailing precedent, which is presently the subject of an appeal by Special Counsel Jack Smith. Now, in a twist that is stranger than fiction, Judge Cannon has been assigned to preside over the criminal case of Ryan Routh, the persons who is charged with an alleged Trump assassination plot. So, the question becomes, should Routh's defense attorney file a motion to remove Cannon from presiding over a case in which Trump is the alleged victim?

In rapidly developing events, Special Counsel Jack Smith filed his "oversized motion" detailing all the evidence of Donald Trump's January 6th crimes, and Judge Tanya Chutkan has set an October 1st (at noon) deadline for Trump's lawyers to file any objections to the redactions in Smiths' motion. Thereafter, it appears Judge Chutkan will rule on Trump's objections and then order Smith's brief to be filed on the public docket for all to see. The Supreme Court returned Trump's criminal case to DC Federal Court Judge Tanya Chutkan directing her to hold hearings to determine which of Trump's January 6th crimes involved official presidential acts and which did not. Trump's lawyers have filed a 34-page brief demanding that Judge Chutkan "dismiss" Trump's case "promptly." In other words, Trump's lawyers are urging the judge to disregard the directives of the Supreme Court and just toss Trump's case entirely, without conducting the litigation the Supreme Court directed her to conduct. Moreover, Trump's lawyers are demanding this prompt dismissal to " protect the integrity of the Presidency and the upcoming election, as well as the Constitutional rights of - the American people." This kind of absurd double-speak would make George Orwell blush.

Donald Trump and JD Vance knew the stories they were telling about pets being abducted and eaten by immigrants in Springfield, Ohio were lies, yet they told them anyway. As the Wall Street Journal just reported: "How the Trump Campaign Ran With Rumors About Pet-Eating Migrants - After Being Told They Weren't True". Ever since Trump and Vance knowingly and intentionally told those lies, the people of Springfield have been in danger. There have been more than 30 bomb threats made to government buildings, schools, and people's homes. Stating the obvious, these bomb threats would not have been made but for the racist and dangerous lies told by Trump and Vance.

A federal judge in Arizona has rejected Mark Meadows' attempt to have his criminal case moved from Arizona state court to federal court, ruling that the things Meadows did with, at the direction of, and for the benefit of Donald Trump in tying to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election - didn't constitute part of his official duties as Trump's Chief of Staff. This is not only bad news for Meadows, but it provides a preview of how Judge Tanya Chutkan may rule on the similar question of whether Trump's conduct was official presidential conduct entitled to immunity or unofficial conduct for which Trump CAN be criminally prosecuted.

To absolutely no one's surprise, Donald Trump and his lawyers just filed a request for a 30-day delay in the deadline to submit his brief in the appeal for his classified documents case.

What some folks did find surprising - Special Counsel Jack Smith did NOT oppose the delay. Glenn says there are actually three reasons why Smith's decisions not to oppose the delay makes sense.
