  • Anxiety & Shiatsu

In this episode I talk about my interpretive perspective of what anxiety might look like in Chinese Medicine and how that might differ from a western perspective. I also talk about my personal experience with anxiety. If you are someone who is suffering from anxiety this episode will let you know you are not alone in this even if it feels that way. If you dont suffer from anxiety but know someone who does this will bring some perspective of what they might be going through. I go through some ideas of how I work with anxiety in shiatsu and other approaches and thoughts on dealing with helping manage and change this overwhelming feeling.

  • The Emotions

In this Episode I talk about my interpretation of how I see the emotions explained in Chinese Medicine. This again is another aspect where Chinese Medicine shines bright. Having specific motions associated with specific emotional states allow them to be recognized and balanced. It is important to see how these emotion states in some ways line up with our ideas of them and in someways might not. Understanding their movements might bring to light a sense of self that helps you define more clearly what emotions you may be experiencing and how to help balance them for yourself.

  • Transformation

In this episode I discuss ideas on transformation of Essence, Qi, and Form. I talk about inner fire and health and the ideas on disease entry into the body. I talk about the different aspects of what makes a great healer from a lower level healer. I also go over my opinion on why I think touch is the most functional tool for healing.

  • The Five Elemental Vibrations

In this episode I talk about what is considered the foundational idea in all of Chinese Medicine. All internal movements in the body can be broken down to five distinct motions that when properly balanced are the essence of what life is. Just as life is very complex and hard to fully understand the five elements are a bit poetic and understood best by looking at all the things attributed to being the embodiment of these motions.

  • Mixed Perspectives of Yin and Yang

In this episode we talk about chapter 4 of the neijing. This chapter explores how yin and yang are always present in whatever perspective we take. It is a good introduction to how Chinese Medicine often changes perspectives to understand something in a different way. It is always the perspective we take that helps define what is happening, but we must not forget how it also fits within the greater whole.

  • Yang and Chi

In this episode I talk about the important aspects of yang and why it takes a leading role in health and treatment. Yang and chi (qi or ki, if you prefer) are the same and by understanding this we are better able to understand ourselves. I also explore what is an example of living in a healthy state by following the daily rhythms of life. We talk about how disease is allowed to manifest in the body. Lastly, I explore what this means to how we can use touch to influence a healthy state in another person.
