Have you ever seen a Beatles movie? Neither had Kyle until Kari pulled this deep cut from 1965 (narrowly edging out last week's The Trouble With Angels as our oldest movie yet). Absurdist comedy mixes with the birth of the modern music video in "HELP!"

Novelist Kelly Quindlen stops by the study to discuss one of her favorite movies, the 1966 Hayley Mills comedy "The Trouble with Angels." It's an interesting pick, because 1) neither Kari nor Kyle had ever heard of it, and 2)it features a cast of nearly all women, as well as being written and directed by women, a rather uncommon distinction especially for its day. Director Ida Lupino and stars Mills and Rosalind Russell combine wonderfully to create something really unique and special, a true hidden gem that deserves to be better known.

The seminal documentary/rockumentary/mockumentary "This Is Spinal Tap" has gone from a modestly-successful cult classic to a full-fledged cultural meme machine since its release in 1984. The film has only become more relevant over the years for its uncanny satire of the issues, egos, and cliches that run rampant in the music industry. This week, Kari and Kyle oscillate wildly between thoughtfully examining the place of satire in our culture and quoting lines while giggling uncontrollably.

Vampire movies and mockumentaries: two genres that have been played out to hell and back, and yet writer/director/star Taika Waititi manages to combine them into something fresh and unique here.
