Tanner Sutton is an east coast native that moved to Kansas City just before the pandemic started in 2020. A musician, connector, promoter, business analyst, data guy, Doctoral candidate, & change management nerd…he proves that we don’t need to stay in one lane to be successful.

He started The Garden DIY concert venue out of his backyard to offer a space for artists to perform, grow in their confidence, and support live music gatherings. It has grown into an LLC which now has 9 board members. The Garden DIY hosts weekly open mic nights, artist features, monthly concerts, and hosts bands traveling through Kansas City.

The Garden DIY’s Mission is to “gives artists and the community space to perform and be themselves in an atmosphere that feels like home.”

His latest book is The Starfish and the Spirit: Unleashing the Leadership Potential of Churches and Organizations , which he co-wrote with Lance Ford and Alan Hirsch.

This interview is awesome! Literally.  We talked about business coaching, athlete privilege, vegan diet, first world problems, addiction, identity crises, bullying, motivation, social media, comedy, learning, humility, and what the future will hold for Cam!

His name wasn’t always Cam Awesome.  Growing up, he struggled a lot. Both academically and socially. After years of anxiety and bullying, he eventually joined a boxing gym in order to learn to protect himself.  He fell in love with the sport!

He is the Winningest Boxer in USA Boxing history, and holds four Golden Glove Championships, six U.S. Championships, three PAL National Championships, six Ringside Championships, and three Olympic trials. His story was featured in the Netflix Original documentary, “Counterpunch.”

No longer active in the sport, he now travels the country to share what boxing taught him: mental toughness, gratitude, cultural awareness, and how to develop a championship mindset.

Locally and nationally awarded 14-year-old Halley Vincent is a student, philanthropist, writer, activist, and entrepreneur. She has run a nonprofit since she was 8 years old, and a book store in Shawnee, KS, that evolved from a bookmobile!

Paws Up KC seeks to combine two community service issues: literacy and animal adoption. Halley believes every household needs a stack of good books and a pet to cuddle with, and the core audience for these two interests often overlap so why not combine them?

Seven Stories is a tiny shop with a big heart! Halley hand-selects all of the products in the store and moves her inventory on a monthly basis. She features local authors, illustrators, and artists onsite.

On this episode, Halley provided information that she has not yet shared in previous interviews. It was a great discussion with many lessons and tips she has learned. She provides some outstanding insights from her journey in bookselling, serving at the local farmers market, networking with others in her community, and more. Get ready to take some notes!

Josh Gloer is an EMMY® Award nominated documentary producer and director based in Kansas City, MO.

He is currently in production on his debut feature documentary, Chasing Goals that follows Global FC, a soccer club made up of refugees from 29 countries, as they battle for survival on and off the pitch in Kansas City's underserved Old Northeast. The film follows these young athletes struggle to overcome cultural differences, food insecurity and crime while they train to play in the nation's most prestigious youth soccer tournament - The USA Cup. Coming Spring 2024.

Josh has written and produced documentaries and television series for Hulu, MSNBC, Peacock, PBS, History Channel, MTV, Oxygen, HGTV, A+E and Quibi including the hit docu-series Duck Dynasty, docu-series Lockup and the Emmy winning series Inside Pedatrics.
