Aside from being one of my best friends, mentors, and wise counselors, Rob Wegner is one of the founding leaders and directors of the Kansas City Underground, which exists to fill Kanas City with the beauty, justice and Good News of Jesus through unleashing the gifts, mission and creativity of everyday people in every place in our city.
He also serves as the north American Director of NewThing, a global tribe equipping catalytic leaders in every nation of the world who believe in working together to advance the mission of Jesus. Rob is also the Director of Microchurch Next for Leadership Network, creating conversations and training around the resurgence of the simple expressions of the church in the West.
He digs reading, live music and making music, great coffee, jogging with his dog Atticus, and hiking with Michelle and his daughters, Madeline, Whitney and Belle, in the woods and plains of Kansas, as there are no mountains currently available.
His latest book is The Starfish and the Spirit: Unleashing the Leadership Potential of Churches and Organizations , which he co-wrote with Lance Ford and Alan Hirsch.
Every organization would do well to implement a starfish leadership mentality. Listen to this episode and find out!

This interview is awesome! Literally. We talked about business coaching, athlete privilege, vegan diet, first world problems, addiction, identity crises, bullying, motivation, social media, comedy, learning, humility, and what the future will hold for Cam!
His name wasn’t always Cam Awesome. Growing up, he struggled a lot. Both academically and socially. After years of anxiety and bullying, he eventually joined a boxing gym in order to learn to protect himself. He fell in love with the sport!
He is the Winningest Boxer in USA Boxing history, and holds four Golden Glove Championships, six U.S. Championships, three PAL National Championships, six Ringside Championships, and three Olympic trials. His story was featured in the Netflix Original documentary, “Counterpunch.”
No longer active in the sport, he now travels the country to share what boxing taught him: mental toughness, gratitude, cultural awareness, and how to develop a championship mindset.
