Karate in the Garage

UNLIKELY ROMANCES Month continues with Movie #2, and we're going back 40 years for Jonathan Demme's 1986 quirky rom com Something Wild with Jeff Daniels, Melanie Griffith, and making his feature film debut, Ray Liotta.

From IMDB: A free-spirited woman "kidnaps" a yuppie for a weekend of adventure. But the fun quickly takes a dangerous turn when her ex-convict husband shows up.

Something WIld is currently available on Prime Video, Plex, and hoopla. (As of 2/10/2026)

We start our inaugural UNLIKELY ROMANCES theme with one that is most certainly an unlikely romance. (But not in the way you might think.) It's Lars and the Real Girl (2007) from Craig Gillespie starring Ryan Gosling, Emily Mortimer, Paul Schneider, Kelli Garner, and Patricia Clarkson.

From IMDB: A delusional young man strikes up an unconventional relationship with a doll he finds on the Internet.

Lars and the Real Girl is currently available on Prime Video, The Roku Channel, kanopy, hoopla, YouTube, and MGM+. (As of 2/3/2026)

We close out January with a movie that would've ended up on our 2025 Movie list had we seen it!

Danny Boyle is BACK with 28 Years Later!

From IMDB: A group of survivors of the rage virus live on a small island. When one of the group leaves the island on a mission into the mainland, he discovers secrets, wonders, and horrors that have mutated not only the infected but other survivors.

ENJOY!

We're continuing to play it loose to start 2026 while we prepare for the changes coming in late-March-April. So, we will remain "themeless" until we're not.

We were both so high on the Predator franchise last year getting TWO movies in 2025, our off-mic chatting led us to this week's episode: 2010's Predators from Director Nimrod Antal and Producer Robert Rodriguez.

From IMDB: A group of elite warriors parachute into an unfamiliar jungle and are hunted by members of a merciless alien race.

Predators is currently streaming on Hulu.

ENJOY!

Hello, All!

We're back at with movie episode after taking a wee break from them. During that time, we filled your ears with Kickstarts every Monday (Sundays from time to time) and commentaries of movies that Tubi chose for us! (1 or 2 were a good time, and the rest were beyond suspect.) We hope you all enjoyed them!

We'll have some one-offs the rest of January, and we're starting it off with Paul Verhoeven's 1987 classic satirical science fiction actioner Robocop starring Peter Weller, Nancy Allen, Kurtwood Smith, Miguel Ferrer, and Ronny Cox. And, of course, the master Rob Bottin and his always amazing bag of mindboggling tricks.

From IMDB: In a violent future in Old Detroit, murdered police officer Alex Murphy is resurrected as RoboCop, a powerful cyborg law enforcer. As he fights crime, he begins to recover memories of his past and seeks revenge on the gang who killed him.

ENJOY!

Love and Rockets,

Corey and Joseph
