When Dusan Bulut entered the 2019 BIG3 Draft as the No. 1 FIBA 3x3 player in the world, it opened up a number of opportunities for not only other FIBA players but all players overseas. So when Bulut was named captain at the start of 2022, why not add his long time FIBA rival to the mix. Enter Karlis Lasmanis.

Lasmanis, who won Olympic Gold in the first ever 3x3 games with Latvia, was someone Bulut went head-to-head with multiple times against and, alongside Tamas Ivosev, changed the dynamic of the BIG3. Lasmanis’ ability to shoot, secondary playmaking, and feel for the 3-on-3 game made an instant impact in the league. He was a big part of the reason Aliens made the playoffs for the first time in franchise history.

We get into how he started playing the game of basketball, why he got into 3-on-3, his Olympics experience, the differences of the BIG3 and FIBA, and his plans for the upcoming year.
