Jessie was so determined to be a part of this series and share her story, she recorded this podcast during her ongoing treatment for cancer.

She was able to attend the exhibition launch at the Museum of the Goldfields and proudly posed for photos in front of her portraits taken by Michael Jalaru Torres.

Sadly, she succumbed to her illness in May 2026, but her legacy lives on.

Dallas McLean: Singing and Painting My Country
One week after Dallas McLean recorded her life story at the ABC studios in Kalgoorlie, she passed away after a sudden illness. She had not yet been photographed for this project so, with family permission, we celebrate her life and legacy in this exhibition through her artwork and that of her beloved aunty/mother mentor Pantjiti Mary McLean.
