Carlow's campaign to become Ireland's first dementia friendly county was outlined to Councillors at their monthly meeting yesterday (Monday, 13th April).
A workshop explaining how the general public and local businesses can support people in the county living with dementia will take place in Carlow's Bethany House on Friday the 8th of May.
According to the 2022 Census, there are 600 people in Carlow living with dementia, and that's a figure which is projected to rise over the coming years.
Speaking to Dermot Keyes of KCLR News, Tara Reid, the South East's Community Engagement Officer for the Alzheimer's Society of Ireland, explained why the forthcoming workshop will benefit the wider community.
