On his first day in office, President Donald Trump signed an executive order challenging birthright citizenship for children of undocumented parents. KCSB's Rose Friedrich talked to Asian American Studies Professor John Park to give a brief overview of birthright citizenship and what Trump's plans could mean for the country.

All across the nation, healthcare facilities struggle to recruit and retain employees, resulting in skeleton staff, poor patient care, and employee burnout. According to its workers, UC has not done enough to meet this challenge, and isn’t sharing staffing data with union negotiators. Two unions have filed charges of Unfair Labor Practices and are now on strike. KCSB's Ray Briare and Mavis Holley bring us this report.

Ahmed Sule and Cisco Bradley join Rosie Bultman to discuss their documentaries that celebrate African culture.

The Kukus of Ijebu-Ode tells the story of the Kuku dynasty in Nigeria. Sule describes the family as "a symbol of strength and leadership in Ijebu-Ode", and discusses the personal importance of uplifting prideful African stories.

Take me to Fendika is a documentary about a now demolished musical and cultural center in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Cisco Bradley, an American Jazz enthusiast, was blown away by the beautiful music and cultural unity that the Fendika Cultural Center fostered.

The National Institutes of Health, or NIH, is the world’s largest funder of biomedical research. With a budget of almost $48 billion, it supports research at many hospitals and universities, including UC Santa Barbara. But over a billion dollars of this research grant funding continues to be in limbo under the second Trump administration. She talked to KCSB's Mavis Holley about the recent opening of Coastal Well Woman, a women's health clinic in Santa Barbara specializing in menopausal and midlife health.
