This is part of our series titled Stronger Together: Promoting Racial Justice through Awareness and Action.
Stronger Together will provide UF faculty and staff with a series of educational offerings to help them better understand and address racism and bias and help promote racial justice at the individual, institutional, and systemic levels. The context of fostering awareness, building capacity, and promoting action will weave throughout the offerings. This series will help UF move forward in efforts to combat anti-black racism and to promote a more diverse and inclusive campus.
This week’s podcast is titled Understanding and Cultivating Your Cultural Intelligence. In this episode, we will explore why cultural intelligence (CQ) is essential for success in today’s increasingly culturally diverse world and how it is linked to a variety of desirable outcomes including better judgment, decision making, creative collaboration, and job performance. We will reflect on aspects of our own culture, cultural identity and cultural biases so we can better understand and interact with others. We will use the Cultural Intelligence Model to provide a more thorough understanding of the four CQ capabilities, assess our own CQ, and apply strategies for cultivating our CQ.
