Paula Brantner, JD is the Senior Advisor for Workplace Fairness.  Attorney Brantner discussed sexual harassment and workplace fairness.

Darlene O'Neal is the City Clerk for the City of Grand Rapids, Michigan.  O'Neal discussed elections and opening the doors at City to help promote the first "Souls to the Polls" for the 2016 Presidential Election.

Kathi Harris, International Union Representative and President of the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Tour Experience.  Ms. Harris discussed the challenges for organized labor working in a Right to Work state.

Shonda Buchanan, MFA  Professor of English and Creative Writing at Hampton University.  She is the author of "Who's Afraid of Black Indians?" and a new book published in May 2017, "Equipose: Poems from Goddess Country".  Ms. Buchanan will discuss her new book, collection of poetry, and personal experiences traveling abroad.

Honorable Debra Thomas serves Wayne County Third Circuit Court.  Judge Thomas discussed wrongful convictions, fairness in legal representation for indigent defendants, the Democratic Black Caucus, and the nomination of Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch.  

Miya Tokumitsu, PhD, Professor in Art History for the University of Melbourne in Australia and contributing editor to Jacobin magazine and author of "Do What You Love: And Other Lies about Success and Happiness".  Dr. Tokumitsu discussed her article in the Republic entitled, "The United States of Work", replacement of manufacturing jobs with technology, and the postwork society.

 

Brenda Brame, Program Manager for the Heart of West Michigan United Way.  She is the founder and organizer for the Tax Coalition to provide free tax services to low-income families and individuals.  Ms. Brame will discuss tax time preparation. 

Dorphine Payne, JD owner of law firm.  Attorney Payne will discuss challenges of representing cases for underserved individuals and the new United States Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

Darci McConnell, President and CEO of McConnell Communications in Detroit, Michigan.  She is also a former longtime journalist.  McConnell l will discuss the recent sexual harassment allegations in the media.

Ursula Sandifer; Owner of Madear's aka Sandman's Restaurant located in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  Ms. Sandifer discussed the restaurant and personal experience recovering from a car accident.
