Coach Shane Martin, Defensive Coordinator and Defensive Line Coach at Mart High School, joins us to talk about his Mart Panthers, currently one of the most dominant programs in the State of Texas. We talk about what makes Mart so special, the Panther's defense and how they sell out to stop the run. We also talk about how the Panther's handle practices and game preparation with a roster that had only 18 varsity players in 2019.

In this special episode of KYPD, Coach Taylor talks with Lucas Wacha, starting linebacker for the Tampa Bay Vipers and former Outside Linebacker Coach for Pleasant Grove High School with Coach Taylor in Texarkana, Texas. Wacha talks about his path through the game of football which includes four years at Wyoming, training camp with the Dallas Cowboys, a season and a half in the CFL, a season coaching high school football, and his current position with the Vipers. Wacha also talks about life in the XFL, including his relationship with Vipers Defensive Coordinator and coaching legend Jerry Glanville, and Tampa's 4-2-5 defense.

In this episode, Coach Drones and Coach Taylor discuss the Shark's unbelievable two year run that has seen Shadow Creek go 31-1 with back-to-back State Title appearances and a 5A DI championship in 2019. Andy Clark, Defensive Line Coach at Aledo High School joins us to discuss the dynamics of coaching at a program where the expectation is state championship or bust. The Bearcats are have won a record 9 state championships, including three of the past four 5A DII titles with a record of 62-2 over the past four years. Coach Clark and Coach Taylor then do some back and forth and talk TEX stunt technique, transitional pass rush, and a new technique the Bearcats have been toying with to help in the run game and defending RPO's.

Rex Norris, the Vice President of football programming, and the executive director of tackling certification, stops by the podcast for an important discussion on tackling and what ATAVUS is doing to teach safer and more effective tackling. SMU Defensive Line Coach Randall Joyner joins KYPD to share the unbelievable twists and turns in his young coaching career, plus what he learned about pass rushing from legendary coach Larry Johnson Sr. Coach Joyner then details his own pass rushing philosophy, including techniques and drills that he uses when developing pass rushers at SMU.
