Harrison is a retired sociology professor from the University of Lethbridge, renowned for his insightful work in political sociology, political economy, and public policy. He has penned, co-authored, or co-edited twelve books, including a prior poetry collection, alongside countless journal articles, chapters, and reports. Plus, he frequently shares his expertise in the public media space, including both radio and television.

Trevor's poetry collection, "Poetry Without Borders," showcases him as a prominent political sociologist and public intellectual. In this thought-provoking compilation, he delves into themes of memory, regret, nature, and loss through a series of previously unpublished poems crafted over several decades. With a blend of wry humor and playful insight, these pieces invite readers to contemplate their own life experiences.

In addition, Trevor's other collection, "War And Other Inconveniences," features a mix of poems penned since 2020 alongside five older works. Notably, a prior version of “A Pretty Good Planet” was featured in Alberta Views in March 2022, while “Guernica, Then and Now” made its debut in Canadian Dimension on November 8, 2023. Together, these poems tackle the unsettling dystopian themes of our time, highlighting issues like war, looming threats, our collective indifference, and the poignant consequences that follow. But war also shares the stage with other threats—climate change, pestilence, oligarchic power, and right-wing authoritarianism. The poems bend towards the dark, but in the author's words, he would rather walk in the truthful dark than in a false light.

Wow! I just had an incredible conversation with Patrick Sangimino! We clicked instantly, and our chat was bursting with energy and laughter. I can’t even begin to describe how fantastic Patrick is. I’m so eager for our second interview! Patrick took a timeout and pulled to the side of the road to have the best conversation with me, which was super awesome.

For over forty years, Patrick was a distinguished journalist, making his mark at various newspapers in California and across the Midwest before retiring in 2024. He spent eight seasons covering the NFL, skillfully balancing his time between news and sports as both a columnist and editor.

Hailing from San Francisco and raised in the blue-collar coastal town of Pacifica, where he grew up among 39,000 residents, Patrick honed his skills at San Jose State University. He worked his way through college by freelancing at high school sporting events for the San Mateo Times. His journey began as the sports editor of a one-man sports department at the Pacifica Tribune, his local weekly paper.

Fast forward five years, and he found himself covering the NFL for the Olathe Daily News, nestled in a Kansas City suburb just across the state line. After an exciting eight-season run there, he joined KMBC, the top ABC station in Kansas City. As the senior editor for their website, he penned a nationally syndicated column that reached audiences through all 64 Hearst-Argyle properties across the country. In 2006, a career-changing opportunity arose when his wife landed a prestigious position at a Fortune 500 company, prompting their move to Wichita, Kansas. He became the managing editor of the Wichita Business Journal, a role he embraced for three years before diving back into sports journalism as the sports editor and columnist at the Hutchinson News, the state's third-largest newspaper at the time. In 2014, his wife's job relocated them once again, this time to Omaha, Nebraska, where he contributed to the Omaha World-Herald before securing a position with the Lincoln Journal Star in 2018.

After holding onto his position until his retirement in 2024, he made the journey back to sunny California—specifically Sunnyvale, right at the heart of Silicon Valley. There, he aimed to help his siblings take away the car keys from their now 87-year-old mother. Patrick's book, “Dogs Chase Cars,” offers a compelling look at the decline of the newspaper industry, seen through the eyes of a seasoned Kansas City sports columnist. On a November Friday, he heads to work, fully aware that he might be yet another victim in an industry that has faced devastating losses over the years. The narrative unfolds over a single day but dives into pivotal moments from his career—like the time he covered a World Series game in 1989 that was interrupted by a 7.1 earthquake, and the unforgettable incident of breaking the news about a Hall of Fame quarterback’s rumored trade while caught in a rather awkward situation at a urinal. It’s a story reflecting on shifting times, evolving technology, and the ignorance and hubris of industry leaders who once believed that past profits were untouchable.
