We have a beast of an episode for you today with none other than John Aguilar, founder of the newly-launched venture builder Dragon's Nest and the creator and host of The Final Pitch, the country's leading show for entrepreneurs!

I first met John in 2019 when we both spoke at an event by Canon. And even though it was a brief chat backstage, I was struck by how insightful and generous he was with advice, that I just knew I had to have a longer sit-down with him. This episode certainly did not disappoint as John shared his life story and humble beginnings and how that helped shape his entrepreneurial drive and work ethic at an early age, leading to his many successes today. We talked about his early career, his production company Streetpark Productions which is behind the country's longest-running real estate show and of course The Final Pitch, and lastly his newest company Dragon's Nest where he hopes to create not one but several game-changing ventures.

Maya Angelou once said, “There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” This speaks to our dreams and why it's important to live creatively so that we get to leave no story untold. My guest for this episode, Joyce Pring is certainly living up to this quote by fully exploring her creative talents and impulses. Across stints in TV, radio, on stage, writing, singing, and of course podcasting, Joyce has shown a creative courage to try her hand in different endeavors and to learn and master them along the way.

In this episode, we talked about how necessity led her to work while in college and how that eventually led her down the path of exploring her many talents. We talked about how getting rejected by a radio station she was auditioning for turned into a blessing in disguise. We also talked about the importance of creating art for art's sake such as music in her case and why it's not always good advice to turn a hobby into a business. And yes we even talked about branding and how thoughtfully she approaches this with her team as she navigates the changes in her personal life.

If you have ever experienced the dreaded Metro Manila traffic, then you no doubt are familiar with James Deakin, not because he causes the traffic, but because he is one of the few good men who are fighting the good fight to help make the traffic situation better for all road users and commuters. He's also been a long-time advocate for road safety through his work as a writer, vlogger, show host, and personality.

Above all, whether it's through his writing, his appearances in Senate hearings, and anywhere else, James comes across as highly sensible and earnest in his desire to make things better. Yes that includes the generous giveaways he hosts on his Facebook account, which is a genuine slice of good vibes on the Internet. In fact, I told him during this interview that he is at the top of most people's list of "people we hold in the highest regard and would be utterly shooked if he is not who we see him to be". I know that's an incredible pressure to put on someone, but it certainly seems to fit James Deakin perfectly. After all, I'm sure all of us who follow him consider him the ultimate Tito peg!

20 years into an amazing career as a "keeper of personal history" as he puts it himself, Jason continues to astound with his creativity and work that has kept him as still the industry standard. That is no small feat considering the growth of the wedding industry with incredibly talented creatives getting into the field year on year. Despite his competitive drive to be at the top of his game, Jason has also been generous with teaching and sharing with others as a way to elevate the entire industry.

We've had the chance to chat years before when we first met for our wedding but of course that was part of his process of getting to know Ellen and I as a couple. This conversation though was enjoyable for me on a different level, being able to pick his brain especially how he approached building his brand through the years is indeed a fascinating case study for any creative entrepreneur. There's so many stories and revelations too that he shares for the first time about his entrepreneurial journey that just made me respect him a whole lot more.
