Four sophomores join us today on the podcast to discuss what’s happening with regard to safety in and around schools. With all that we hear on the news today about school shootings, our students have some clear opinions about Measure M monies, security, and safety training. It’s an interesting episode if you want to hear what students think about this tough issue.

We have very special guests in the studio today -- golf coach JT, principal Dr. Zurbano, and Irene Kim, a senior at Kennedy and and golf team captain. But not only is Irene a senior and golf captain, but also OC Player of the Year and CIF Southern California Champion.  Listen in to her story, comments from her coach and principal, and her future plans. One Kennedy junior joins a couple KennedyStrong podcast club members to discuss a local nonprofit organization: Casa Youth Shelter. This is an important organization whose mission is to help struggling teens. Listen in and learn how you, too, can help.

Three juniors from Kennedy are here to talk about Toys for Tots. Kennedy has participated in this for years, helping many people in the community. This tradition on campus has been able to help those less fortunate during the holiday season -- giving them something to enjoy.

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be in the high school band? Our students this week talk about the fun, the benefits, the optional band trips, the pressure, and the friends. Three of our sophomores invited the Assistant Drum Major in for a little Q & A, too -- and she has some interesting insight into what it takes to lead our phenomenal marching band. This week our Kennedy students get political. Wonder about trade wars? Tariffs? Our relationship with China with regard to business? Listen in and hear what students feel about imports, spending, wealth, community resources, budgets, jobs, homeless, and why it’s important to buy “Made in the USA.” It’s a great, political episode without actually being political -- listen and learn from two of our own, informed, Kennedy sophomores.
