This week we took a 3 hour tour (not really) of the 1978 made-for-TV reunion movie Rescue from Gilligan's Island. The Castaways finally get off the island, but that's just where the chaos starts! From Russian spies to makeshift bamboo tech with a little help from space, we break down all the cheesy 70s nostalgia.

And to help us navigate the madcap journey home, we found a pairing that even Gilligan's couldn't screw up in Gilligan's Red Ale from West Side Brewing. It's a rich, malty Irish-style Red Ale with smooth caramel notes that makes getting shipwrecked with a 6-pack almost sound appealing.

This week on the podcast we revisited the 1990 creepy crawly creature classic Arachnophobia. We break down how this movie gave an entire generation an irrational fear of household objects and what could be hiding inside. These practical effects and creepy killer spider story are possibly where Shane's own fear of spiders originated.

And we found the perfect pair to all the eight-legged chaos in Original Sin's Black Widow Cider. Put on your seatbelts and lock up the neighborhood cats because this week we're taking a trip back to 1993 for the sci-fi/horror/creature feature Man’s Best Friend!Max is just your run of the mill dog spliced with DNA from cheetahs, bears, and... chameleons. Once his sedatives wear off, the body count starts rising in this absolute beast of a B-movie.

To survive the carnage, we needed a beer with a bite equally fierce. Enter Hellhound IPA from our local brewery Sawstone Brewing Co.. A bold, resinous West Coast IPA boasting a 7.6% ABV, a sturdy malt backbone, and a heavy dose of piney, bitter hops. With enough flavor to match anything that Max 3000 could throw at us we knew we found the perfect pairing.

Randall’s accidental astronaut journey, zero gravity shenanigans, and a chimpanzee co-pilot who might actually be the smartest crew member on the ship. Does this 90s nostalgia space trip still land with audiences?

To survive the isolation of space we found the ultimate high octane rocket fuel: Voodoo Ranger G-Force IPA from New Belgium Brewing. Clocking in with a high enough alcohol percentage to simulate a real NASA gravity test, we’ll see if this crisp, hoppy pairing helps us stick the landing or causes a total mission failure. We certainly felt the impact from this one...

Batter up, film buffs and beer lovers!

This week on the podcast we stepped up to the plate and swung for the fences as we threw it back to 1994 to revisit Little Big League. Possibly the ultimate childhood fantasy movie that convinced every kid in the '90s they could manage a Major League baseball team with nothing more than baseball cards and video game knowledge. Quite possibly the best baseball movie that way too many people never heard of.

To survive the high stakes of pennant races and middle-school homework, we cracked open a heavy hitter from the good people over at MadTree Brewing, Rounding Third Red IPA. This seasonal favorite brings a rich, caramel malt backbone that pairs beautifully with old-school stadium nostalgia, balanced by a sharp, citrusy hop finish that carries you all the way to home plate.

This week we tuned into the zany and chaotic world of UHF, the 1989 cult comedy masterpiece by the undisputed king of parody, "Weird Al" Yankovic. We revisit George Newman's wild ride running (and saving) Channel 62 and all the personalities that call it home, so fire up the transmitters and grab your accordions!

To match the vibrant, loud, and delightfully unconventional energy of this film, we cracked open a few cans of Squeezebox, a heavily fruited Strawberry Fruit Tart from Cincinnati's Urban Artifact. It's fruity, tart and with a flavor strong enough to stand up to the fast-paced, colorful sketches of this classic comedy.

Not too many people know this, but the turtle is also Nature's suction cup.
