After a great miracles of feeding 5,000+ people, Jesus follows it up with walking on water, showing that he has power that even the disciples were unaware of. And that power is there for us as well. He is with us always, and can overcome any obstacle the comes in our way.

When crowds appeared, Jesus showed compassion for them. Even to the point of providing not only their spiritual needs, but their physical needs as well. Ultimately, for us, Jesus desires to provide for our needs as well. And he has the power to do just that.

Jesus didn’t always follow the rules that were custom of the culture of his day. The main reason for this was because the rules did not cause good in the lives of people. And Jesus was there to do what was right, even if it meant breaking a man-made rule.

In our lives, doing right is always what we are meant to do. Even if it doesn’t look to everyone else as the right thing. God is the ultimate judge in what is right. Jesus showed us that is who we must answer to.

Jesus’ second miracle was to heal from a distance. And the timing was impeccable. Jesus had the power to heal from a distance and in perfect synchronization.

The timing that Jesus displays in our own lives are very much amazing. He is neither late, nor early, but exactly on time.

Jesus’ first miracle was to show his glory and bring people to faith. It all started at a wedding in Cana that had ran out of celebratory wine. Jesus was there to make new wine. The best.

Jesus wants to change us. And what he is changing us into is better. Are we willing to allow that to happen?

The very end of the Great Commission is a promise. I am with you until the end of the age. Jesus promises to be with us no matter what is going on in life. Do we live each day with that in our minds? Do we have fears that hold us back from fulfilling the mission we have been given?

In the High Priestly Prayer, Jesus prays for the future church. And the prayer was simple. Be one. Jesus will equate the unity of the church with the reaching of the nations.

But how easy for us to not be one? How much is that hurting our witness? What is keeping us from being one with each other?

The entire law and prophets are summed up in two ideas: Love God, Love People.

If there is ever a question about how we should live and treat other people, it is simple to find the right answers: Are we loving God? Are we loving people? That is all we need to ask. So are we?

Jesus said He is the only way to the Father. There is no other way to be saved, but through Jesus. So what does that mean?

That means that there are many outside of Christ who are going to Hell. And if we don’t get out and tell them about Jesus, they never will get a shot at Heaven. So let us not be people sitting by and watching people die outside of Christ. Let us move to bring them to God.

The One thing that Jesus told his disciples after revealing that he was the Messiah was this: The gates of hades will not overcome the church that he was establishing.

Many times in this world it looks like the church is about to be overcome. The persecution and pressures of the world press in on us on either side, and we can be scared that the world is winning the great spiritual battle. But there is hope! Despite what it looks like, we will not be overcome by Hell. How then should we live?
