It's been awhile since I've had a chance to play some funky breaks so I've amassed quite the collection. Here's a little journey with some funk, disco, swing, and a good dose of throwbacks. Perfect for lounging and dancing in the park, which is where this set was played =)

My favourite event of the year is without question the Frolic Campout. This year, I played on the main night stage 2:45am-4:00am. Bedtime for some, but not at Frolic. The energy from Friday afternoon all the way through Sunday was bright and beautiful and the dance floor was hopping well until the sun came up.

(apologies to the Sheriff who heard the bass from his house)

Special thanks to @dustindynastynelson for providing an unreleased banger for use on this set. Go check out his music!

Friends 'n' Family is so hard to describe. It's a party but it's also a community. It's light and also sound. It's art and also science. It's whimsy and also deep connection. And for all those reasons, it's just a huge honour to be selected to play.

This set is the second of the entire weekend, starting the party off in the pool. I took a slightly different approach and dug up some old old tracks for a journey of house and breaks and back. Enjoy.

aka Amazing Ass Anthem for Amy Vol. 2

kev/null and Dyson (@aarondysonxavier) get together again for another installment of tracks about booty. The only rule is that something about the booty (or ass, derriere, butt, back, junk, you get the idea) is mentioned in the song.

We all you connoisseurs of caboose enjoy this highly intellectual and thought-provoking mix.

(Intro: David Attenborough - Wild Ass)

Recorded live on Dec 3, 2016, one night after the Oakland Ghost Ship fire. Planning the set that day, I found the cognitive dissonance difficult to navigate. How to know what to play when we were all reeling and feeling such loss? How to get in the mindset of being fun?

But through the course of the hour of this set, the mood seemed to shift for everyone. It was one of the most magical experiences I've had as a DJ. To gift music and watch as we collectively moved through our emotions and bonded on and off the dance floor. Somber expressions turned to smiles, love, and appreciation for each other, those lost, and who have lost.

Music and community is so powerful. Cherish it, celebrate it, and feed it.

There are few more challenging environments to DJ in than an open air moving vehicle in a whiteout dust storm. But there are also few environments as fun to dance and jam in. This year, I played a lot more day time sets which let me bring out a lot of ghetto funk breaks I'd been saving up.

Thanks as always to Dr. Brainlove, my favourite mutant vehicle, for a wonderful day excursion.

I had the pleasure of playing to the always beautiful sunsets on Koh Lanta, an island in Thailand at the Pangea Beach Bar. This was a great opportunity to put together a set of a lot of the chiller tracks I've been collecting over the last year or so.

This 2h30m set is a journey with the sun, starting off chill and, after the sun sets and the lights come on, a little bit more of a dance vibe with many throwbacks.

Thanks to Alex and @pangea-beach-bar-ko-lanta for having me play. If you're in Koh Lanta, check them ot for sunsets and for their Tuesday night parties where they bring in DJs from all over the world for a night of tech house and dancing.

Hosted at the magnificent Chabot Space and Science Center, “Portal” was the most ambitious Rhythm Society All Night Dance Celebration (ANDC) to date. Playing sunrise and closing on the main room, I decided to take everyone on a journey as we greeted Spring.

Opening with @jpodtbc's soon-to-be-released amazing remix of Imogen Heap's Hide & Seek, I wanted to signify, "this is going to be something completely different." The set continues with some banging breaks, and starts its landing with an amazing 13 artist mashup by @robinskouteris, finally arriving on the beautiful @flightfacilities' Claire de Lune to bring in the sun.

At 5am, it’s always a challenge to know how the crowd is going to be but Rhythm Society takes dancing seriously and everyone was full of energy and love and kept the dance floor packed to the very end. Thanks for going on this trip with me.
