As part of Grand County's 150th anniversary, we've partnered with the Grand County Historical Association to bring you fun facts and historical tidbits.

On this week's Public Affairs we talked with District One Grand County Commissioner Rich Cimino regarding the 1883 Commissioner Shooting that decided where the county seat should be.

Boot maker Jim Brainard came into the KFFR studios to discuss the art and process of leather making. Brainard will be teaching a class at the Rocky Mountain Folk School in Grand Lake on June 29th. Ryan Wilson sat down with Jim and Gillian Butler, Marketing Director of the Grand Lake Creative District, to discuss how he learned this western tradition and why it is important to preserve these skills for future generations.

Patrick Brower, author of Killdozer and former editor of Sky Hi News, speaks with his successor Tara Alatorre about the 20 year anniversary of the bulldozer attack on the town of Granby. They discuss his thoughts from that day, the perception of the event, and how a reconciliation process might begin.

Ryan Wilson sat down with Jason Cleckler, CEO of Middle Park Health, Andy Radzavich, and Tiffany Freitag to discuss the new Fraser/Winter Park Hospital that recently broke ground.

Sarah Cichon, Executive Director of Destination Granby, came into the studio to discuss their status as a non-profit and main-street organization. The conversation covered events that Destination Granby sponsors, their marketing efforts to promote the town of Granby, and their efforts to find partners in the valley to increase economic vitality and downtown beautification efforts.

Executive Director of Fraser Valley Arts, Steve Fitzgerald, sat down with DJ Skindog to discuss the progress that is being made on the new Center for the Arts building in Fraser. They discuss the history of Fraser valley Arts, the location and design of the new center, and give an update on fundraising efforts. Listen to the full interview below.

Scott Ledin sat down with Ryan Wilson from KFFR to discuss the Fraser Valley Metropolitan Recreation District.  The two discuss the addition of the Foundry Cinema and Bowl to the Recreation Districts assets, and how the new expansion project will bring much needed space to a loved institution.

Ryan Wilson sat down with the new CEO for Steamboat Orthopedic and Spine Institute Ryan Albrecht and Forest Pecha, Clinic Outreach Director, to discuss orthopedic needs in Grand County. They discuss their background skiing at Winter Park Resort and with the US National Team, watching Bode Miller win Gold, and some of the new technology that is out there in the orthopedic world.
