Embarking on his football odyssey, Jose Ferreira, a 25-year-old right back from Portugal, found his inspiration on the school pitch, watching older kids play. Despite a fleeting opportunity to train at Sporting Lisbon's academy, his parents emphasized education, redirecting him to local clubs like Grupo Sportivo de Carcavelos and Atlético Clube de Porto Salvo.
As the captain of his school team and under the guidance of the influential coach Rui Gonçalves, Jose embraced the leap from U19 to senior football in Portugal. Liverpool FC Foundation College marked a turning point, convincing him that football could indeed be a career. Though full-time opportunities in Portugal beckoned, Jose's dad insisted on a university degree, leading him through trials in English non-league football.
Facing the grind of non-league challenges toughened him up, providing invaluable experience. After graduating during the pandemic, Jose's European journey kicked off with almost signing in Cyprus but deterring due to off-pitch issues.
