She explained that while retirement messaging typically focuses on financial aspects, many successful individuals struggle with personal planning and finding purpose in their next phase of life. Dale noted that executives in particular face challenges adapting to life outside their successful career systems, as they are used to following established expectations and problem-solving within defined frameworks.

Most people think of courage as a virtue that you need for going into battle, climbing a mountain, or embarking on a dangerous journey.
In fact, courage is a set of skills that can be learned and are best learned when you don't need them badly.

Current research has shown that when companies take the time to teach their leaders the advanced skills of courage they experience dramatic engagement, collaboration, and improvement in many of the problem areas like silos, poor communication, low levels of appreciation, etc.

Chief Purpose Officer – Vicki Thomas won a $100,000 Purpose Prize in 2013 from Encore.org. Nearing retirement, she pursued her purpose using her expertise to help two veteran nonprofits get on the map by placing national and local media stories about veterans needing housing solutions.

Vicki always pursued her passion and purpose in life — she is now helping individuals develop their passion to help them develop their purpose.

Vicki produced, packaged, financed and marketed the Dancin’ Grannies exercise videos and promoted the unknown group to national critical acclaim.

Vicki remains an excellent writer and speaker on the ramifications and opportunities an aging society has on business growth and the business bottom line. She also writes and speaks about what is missing in the work place that has so many employees searching for greater job satisfaction.

Vicki has no desire to ever fully retire or sail off into the sunset. She is living her purpose.

Terry joined us back inJuly of 2021 to share his story. As a refresher for those of you who haven’t listened to EP #42 Terry reinvented himself frequently over the years. His first job after college was at Wendy’s in their marketing department. From there he worked in hospital administration. After marriage Tery moved to California for his wife’s job and worked for a publishing company. After his daughter was born they moved to Cincinnati, Ohio and he became a police officer where he was a Swat Hostage Negotiator. Each time he took a new job, he had to develop new skills and faced different challenges. Since 2012 Terry has faced his biggest challenge to date. He was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called Acral Lentiginous Melanoma. Terry lost his left leg above the knee to the cancer in 2020. Today we are going to be discussing his most recent book, “Four Truths and a Lie”,where Terry shares powerful life lessons on resilience, mental toughness, and overcoming adversity.

Sabine shared her personal story of meeting her husband Michael in Germany after completing work in the United States, and how they eventually settled in the US to start their own business in the entertainment industry. She discussed her journey into book writing, starting with "Secrets on How to Succeed in Showbiz" based on insights from working with aspiring performers, and later writing "Unlock Your Full Potential" which included practical action steps after each chapter. The conversation concluded with both participants sharing how they were inspired by motivational speakers like Zig Ziglar to pursue their respective goals of public speaking and writing.

Sabine shared her journey of writing a memoir inspired by a publisher's feedback at PodFest, completing it within 12 months. Terry expressed appreciation for the book's storytelling and shared personal experiences, including her own recent move and the opportunities available to baby boomers through modern technology. Meet Linda MacDougall

Linda got her M.A. in Counseling Psychology because she was seeking answers to family dysfunction.  She already had a background of working with the developmentally disabled population since high school.  She went on to be an administrator of two group homes for United Cerebral Palsy for over a decade.  Following her ex-husband's career, she then moved to Hawaii and became a Federal advocate for the state of Hawaii's families dealing with their population of developmentally disabled.  Her work there brought change to the system in the way of studies and a medical review board as well as the state guardians beginning to imitate her way of questioning and challenging the way things had always been done.

Today her focus has changed to the older adult population.  She is a senior health advocate and massage therapist, a holistic health practitioner, and a management consultant for caregiving situations.  As a senior herself, Linda is also an advocate for change in the senior living space.  Her background and focus on awareness led to the writing of her book "The SPIRIT Method of Massage for Seniors: Raising the Bar...A Primer for Massage Therapists and Caregivers".
