How GOOD Was Joseph Benavidez Actually?

Joseph Benavidez seemed destined to become a UFC champion. The fighter who fights out of Sacramento, California made a name for himself early on by becoming one of the best at 135. He was very close becoming the WEC bantamweight champion, but unfortunately that never came into fruition. Regardless, once the WEC merged with the UFC, joe remained as one of the best at 135. But his frame was more suited at 125 as he was usually the smaller fighter in these bantamweight matchups. So thats when the UFC created the flyweight division and had a 4 man tournament to determine the inaugural champion. Although joe was the favourite to win it all, he came up short in the finals. Despite this defeat, he remained as a top 125er for most of his career and was able to fight for the title 3 more times. But he came up short in all of his attempts to capture the belt. And now at the age of 37, he retired from sport without winning any major titles. So how good was Joseph Benavidez actually?

How GOOD was Carlos Condit Actually?

Carlos Condit will go down as one of the greatest fighters to not become an undisputed UFC champion. The fighter from Albuquerque built a reputation as a finisher with his first 24 wins ending by KO, TKO or submission. And in the process, he became the WEC welterweight champion and defended that belt 3 times. Although he lost his debut fight in the UFC, he went on to win his next 5 which lead to him becoming the UFC interim welterweight champion. And he looked very close to unifying that belt at UFC 154, but ultimately he was unable to get the job done. But he remained as a top welterweight which lead to a second shot at the title at UFC 195. And although he was even closer to capturing the belt in this fight, the decision did not end in his favour. After this he went 2-5 and following his most recent defeat at UFC 264, he called it a career. So how good was Carlos Condit actually?

Why Do People HATE Aljamain Sterling?

Aljamain sterling may very well be the most hated UFC champion ever. The fighter from New York won a couple of belts on the local circuit before rising up in the UFC rankings with 4 straight wins. But then he went 2-3 in his next 5 between 2016 and 2017 and during this time, he considered retiring from the sport. Luckily he didin't because he ended up going on 5 fight win streak which lead to a shot at the bantamweight championship against champion, Petr Yan. Despite Petr looking good in this fight, he ended up connecting with an illegal knee that stopped the action. Thus making Aljamain the first person to win a UFC championship by disqualification. And because of this result, many do not give him the respect a champion usually receives. So why do people hate Aljamain Sterling?

How GOOD is Paddy Pimblett Actually?

Paddy Pimblett may very become a huge name in the UFC. The fighter from Liverpool became a massive star in the UK MMA scene not only due to his skills on the ground, but also because of his eccentric personality. This lead to him becoming the Full Contact and Cage Warriors featherweight champion. So when he finally signed with UFC in March of 2021, there was a lot of hype surrounding his debut with the promotion. And he delivered as he faced early adversity before finishing his opponent, Luigi Vendramini, at the end of round 1 by strikes. Rory Macdonald is one of the best to never win UFC gold. The Canadian fighter entered the sport at a young age and quickly proved that he was a force to be reckoned with. This included winning the King of the Cage lightweight championship. His success continued when he moved up 170 and signed with the UFC.
