How GOOD is Khamzat Chimaev Actually?

Khamzat Chimaev may very well be the future of MMA. The Russian born Swedish fighter found success early in freestyle wrestling. And those skills transitioned well once he entered MMA. But the hype surrounding him really blew up once he entered the UFC. Because in first 3 fights with the promotion, he truly looked unstoppable. So much so that many already believe that he will become a UFC champion one day. And although his success was expected to continue in 202, he has faced a lot of adversity after testing positive for Covid-19. Which not only lead to fights being cancelled, but also the potential of an early retirement as he developed lung complications from the virus. So how good is Khamzat Chimav actually?

Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira is a certified legend. The Brazilian fighter had an illustrious career as he became a champion in all the major promotions that he fought for. And he did this mostly with his skills on the ground which saw him finish his opponents with submissions. By the time he joined the UFC, he already had such an impressive resume. But even though he became the interim heavyweight champion with the promotion, he finished his career there with a 5-6 record. So how good was Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira actually?

Tony Ferguson is one of the greatest fighters in Lightweight history. The Mexican-American fighter found success early by winning the 13th season of the Ultimate Fighter. And after this, he went on a legendary run which saw him win 12 fights in a row. And in the process, not only did he become the UFC Interim Lightweight champion, but he also became a huge fan favourite due to his style of fighting and eccentric personality. Many were rooting for him to become the Undisputed Lightweight Champion. But he never even got a shot at that title and now at the age of 37, he is on a 3 fight losing streak. How Did Kamaru Usman get SO GOOD?

Kamaru Usman is on the path to become the greatest welterweight of all time. The Nigerian-American wrestler dominated his opponents early on with takedowns and ground and pound. And although he was becoming a contender at 170, he wasn't a fan favourite due to his gruelling style of fighting that didn't see many finishes. Regardless, he made it all the way to the top to become UFC welterweight champion. And after being a part of one of the greatest wars in the history of the division, his image was tarnished yet again after a lacklustre fight at UFC 251. But 2021 has been a huge year for him as he has already defended the belt twice. And in these fights, not only did he look amazing, but he also finished his opponents in highlight reel fashion. He’s now regarded as an exciting fighter to watch. And with the momentum that he’s currently riding, it really seems like no one will be able to stop him. So how did Kamaru Usman get SO GOOD?
