"Look at me, I'm Leatherface!" - Idle Hands, 1999

Twenty four years after the release of the iconic original The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, New Line got their hands on the franchise license and decided to take a crack at turning power tool enthusiast Leatherface into the next Freddy Krueger. Did this gambit pay off with a slice of prime horror mayhem and a critical and box-office revival? Or did it result in naught but a pile of scrap meat, destined for canned army rations and the Purina factory? There are only two ways to find out: listening to the pod, or a cursory Google search. But only one of those options will also allow you to hear Eric's anxieties about his mortician friend seeing his dick after he dies! We talk about what makes it so great, and why no one should make a movie like this again. Price also misidentifies the film as being "almost 40 years old" multiple times because he still wants to believe it's the aughts and he's in his 20s. Also, some great listener questions and comments, and after the movie, "Staff Picks: Dead by Dawn."

Our big January Drac-Off comes to a close this week with famed director Francis Ford Coppola's wild gothic romance of the early 90's. If you're not horny for Gary Oldman yet, you will be by the time you finish this movie. This one is a blast and we had a real fun time talking about it. But that's not all this jam-packed episode has to offer! We decided to plow right ahead and do our Drac-Off rankings and superlatives as well, so look for that after the movie to find out who won such coveted awards as "Best Fainting Woman" and "Biggest Cuck" in the Dracula-verse! Then, finally, we announce the series we'll be covering in February, and it's a doozy!

Round 2 of the January Drac-Off begins as we get introduced to the sexy, imposing British-ness of Hammer's "Horror of Dracula." It's 27 years later and this time, you know they're gonna show some fangs! Also in this episode, Eric tries a new, more aerodynamic approach to the recap section. We jump into our January Drac-Off with the granddaddy of all the celluloid Draculas...Universal's 1931 classic (?) "Dracula" starring Bela Lugosi. You know it's famous, but the real question is, "is it good?" You know how to find out: listen to the pod!! We are podcasting children of the night, and oh what music we make!

After the movie, we play a round of "Bela Lugosi's Dead," a segment that definitely WASN'T conceived name-first, then working backwards from there.

On this very special holiday episode, Finnish Santa Claus is here to decide who's naughty, who's nice, and who deserves a pickaxe to the head! Whatever you do, don't call him Krampus, because that's Central Europe, you uncultured yokel. Gingerdead Man might be the perfect COVID series, because having to watch these movies is not dissimilar to having to suffer through the discomfort and offense of this year's pandemic. BUT!
