Alexander Dugin doesn’t hold a government position but he is seen as the architect of latter-day Russian nationalism promoting the idea that the country should expand to follow in the footsteps of the old Russian empire and the Soviet Union – hence the invasion of Ukraine which has already been blamed for the killing by Kremlin sources. Darya echoed Alexander's belief in the development of a Eurasian Empire, and had been sanctioned by the US and UK for spreading disinformation.
