Most everyone likes benefits, those things which are over and above what is generally expected. Did you know there are benefits to being God's child? King David believed there were benefits and he wrote about them. As we approach Thanksgiving, now is a fantastic time to slow down and tell God "Thank You!" for all the benefits He brings into our lives.

Everyone of us likes peace and quiet. But how many of us like to be still? It is full of things to do, places to go and people to see. We fill our calendars with stuff and the end result is that we rarely are still. King David came to understand the benefits of being still. And in a Psalm, it seems he writes an admonition to himself and to whomever would read his Psalm that is vital to be still. As we enter an especially busy time of the year, it's important that we are still before the Lord.

Have you ever disagreed with someone? A spouse, child, neighbor, co-worker, brother or sister in Christ? How did you handle it? Disagreements are common in life. And the church is not exempt from differing opinions and disagreements. Often, disagreements within the church are over matters which are opinions or preferences, rather than Biblical principles. And these differences can result in disunity. Scripture calls followers of Jesus Christ to be unified. Does the Scripture give us practical ways to remain unified in the midst of disagreement? In our first sermon of the Lifestyle Discipleship series, we studied The Great Mission from Jesus. He commanded us to go out and make disciples. Before we can take up this commission there are a few basics that we should have in place. This week we will dig deeper into their basic Biblical truths and set a plan in place to ready ourselves for what He has in store for us.

Our Lord Jesus left His disciples (then and now) with a critical mission. It's possible that some take His mission as a suggestion rather than a command. The reality is, we HAVE been given a command, and the Master intends for us to fulfill His command. We've got a mission to accomplish. Will you obey the Commander's command?

We recently looked at the truth about knowing Jesus. Have you ever thought about the fact that God knows you? When you stop to consider this, it's a pretty amazing fact. God, the Creator of the universe, knows you. And, even more, He loves you. Join us as we work our way through Psalm 139.

We are very familiar with the limits of human authority. We have jurisdictions, districts, chains of command, defined roles and responsibilities. All of these set limits on a person's authority. However, there is one person who has unlimited authority. The authority Jesus has over all things is the heart of Paul's message in the passage we're going to look at Sunday morning.
