King & Co. Conversations episodes

  • Husbands Leading in the Home

In this episode, we answer a listener's question on how to encourage a husband to lead his family. We share history of our marriage and how Drexel's leadership has changed over the years from duty to love. We talk about a wife's ability to follow and the power of her prayers. It is an unrehearsed conversation on a loaded issue and we just touch the surface of how we would process with a couple. We discuss lessons learned, the tools a husband has and what Christ can do with just a little hunger for leadership in the home.

  • Unpacking Postpartum

In this conversation, we unpack our current postpartum season. We have been pregnant, nursing or pp for nearly 13 years - most of our marriage! We share some of the ways it affects our individual lives, marriage and family. Drexel said I was going to carry the conversation, but wait because he has so much wisdom to share. We believe our culture doesn't create enough space for the pp season. We pushed through a lot in our young days of marriage and learned the hard way. We discuss our journey and the things we've changed to make this season positive and fruitful.

  • Family Ministry: Part 1 - What, Why & How?

In this episode, we talk about what family ministry looks like. The family is the primary disciple maker in the home and this is the foundation for everything we do. What is family worship and how does it look for us - a large family with 10 kids 13 years and younger? Did we always do things this way? We get asked this question a lot and this conversation is hopefully an encouragement to be intentional, how to overcome some obstacles and ultimately keep things simple!

  • Individualization in Oneness

In this episode, we talk about how to not lose yourself in marriage while maintaining a desire for unity. How do you personally grow through harder seasons of marriage, yet still consider the other person's needs? Where should this conversation even start? We share a few of our harder seasons and how this looked in our lives. We also talk about the patterns we see around us, the temptation to give up in marriage, how to practically grow closer and not grow weary in doing good. So much more to be said, but we hope this starts the conversation!

  • Spiritual Disciplines: Part 1

In this episode, we discuss the concept of spiritual disciplines. What are they and why do we practice them? We talk a little about how this looks as parents of 9, almost 10, young kids when quiet time is rare and life doesn't seem to slow down. We share lessons learned on the path to grow in our faith, how spiritual disciplines have personally affected our lives and how we might counsel those that come to us regarding this topic.

Drexel shared these principles in the following Substack post: https://open.substack.com/pub/kingandcompany/p/intimacy-with-the-divine?r=1b6rbo&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web
