Today in his sermon Pastor Adam Hengst reminded us of a possible point of confusion within the life of a Christian.  Salvation is a gift from God, nothing that we can earn on our own, but salvation is not the end goal of a Christian but rather the beginning of our Christian journey.  From then on our focus needs to be on being a disciple of Jesus Christ and a disciple to our fellow brothers and sisters who are not yet saved or weaker in their faith.  Discipleship is like most any other goal in life, it takes lots of learning and lots of practice and a focus on our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to coach us so that we can make meaningful progress in the life-long call to discipleship.
