As the end of the 2021 calendar year approaches, it is customary, and healthy, to look back at the year and reflect on how well we are performing within the roles and responsibilities that the Lord has put before us.  Today's Kingdom Culture Conversation is an opportunity for the Northwest Christian and Frameworks community to do just that.

Roger Erdvig's "Beyond Biblical Integration", published by Summit Ministries, the leading purveyor of Biblical worldview resources and curriculum, was released in 2020 and has since become a road sign for families and schools attempting to navigate towards true Biblical worldview.  In November of 2021, Northwest Christian School invited the author to campus to visit classrooms and provide a snapshot assessment of how the school is performing in its stated mission to "provide a Bible-based program of education that enables students to develop a Christian worldview."  Today, Roger and Geoff discuss those observations and identify areas of strength and opportunity for the school.

In 1980, Chuck Deheinaut was given just 4 months and $50,000.00 to start Northwest Christian School.  In that limited time and with those limited resources, Chuck established a school that went on to become the largest single-location private school in the state, one of just seventeen ACSI Exemplary Accredited schools in the world, and the top Arizona private school for nine consecutive years according to Ranking Arizona magazine.

But, according to Chuck, it all started with prayer.

Dr. Shaw didn't see it playing out this way.  But, God did.  And, she wouldn't change a thing.

As an accomplished and legitimate college and professional basketball star (a member of the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame!), Dana Drew Shaw imagined her life going in a different direction, perhaps something on the athletic side.  But, God used a happenstance conversation with her uncle while in high school to start her gears turning:  how could a career in law and policy be used to shape culture in a God-honoring way?

Today, with a husband who played in the NBA and a brother who coached Baylor University to a national championship, Dr. Shaw is the tip-of-the-spear:  working to create impact by playing point guard in Grand Canyon University's public policy, government, and community efforts.

In today's episode, she discusses a staggering statistic:  the fact that this year's freshman class at GCU features 20% of students who are the first to attend university within their family of origin, a reality that is literally transforming the community around the school.  She also discusses a unique partnership with CityServe--another community-transforming effort.
