Passover is the Jewish feast commemorating their deliverance from Egyptian bondage. Jesus is the greater Passover and Redeemer.

The sacrificial animal would take the punishment for sin, would die in place of the sinner. Jesus is our greater and better substitute.

Under the Old Testament Law the continual sacrificing and shedding of an animal’s blood was a foreshadow of Christ’s sacrifice, once and for all: for without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sin. Jesus is our better and greater sacrifice.

God’s sovereignty over life and death is affirmed through James’ death, Peter’s deliverance and Herod’s destruction and judgment.

The gospel is declared and cross-cultural barriers are broken, allowing the gospel to reach pagans. The church is further strengthened.

God continues to work on the hearts of Cornelius and Peter by orchestrating events that show them that the Gentiles have equal access to the Gospel.
