Peter turns his attention to the “beloved” and reminds them that, in spite of scoffers who live lustfully and mock the truth, Christians are to be diligent and live their lives in light of the reality that Christ will return and judge the world.

2 Peter 2:10b-22: Peter continues by describing the characteristics of the false prophets and teachers.

Peter gives warning that there will be false teachers and prophets among them who are neglecting the truth of Scripture and are bringing destructive heresies, sensuality and greed.

The greatest treasure that you will ever receive, apart from your salvation, is the Scriptures, which is a lamp in a dark place.
