We will give up everything to gain that which is ultimately unsatisfying; but Jesus gave up everything to give us the only thing that can truly satisfy.
Taylor Combs preaches on Acts 8:25-40.
Clint Harris leads the first session of our 3-week summer study, True Christian Freedom.
How does it feel to be truly free? Free from the need to measure up? Free from the opinions of others and the desire to please everyone? Free from the critical voice in the back of your head? This summer, we will walk together toward true Christian freedom through "self-forgetfulness." We encourage participants to supplement the class with a reading of Tim Keller's booklet, The Freedom of Self-Forgetfulness.
In Acts 8:4-25, we learn that Christianity is not about earning God’s blessing through our sacrifices, but being given God’s blessing through his sacrifice.
How should the church respond to charges of injustice? In Acts 6, we see that a church, as an embassy of God’s kingdom, must reflect the justice and righteousness of God’s kingdom, and Christians should work for God’s kingdom to come in the world. But only God can create the kingdom—which means our primary work is to announce the kingdom.
Every human longs to be known and belong. In Acts 2, the early church gives us a glimpse of this community we all desire. But why don't we have it? And how do we get it?
