On this special episode, Bryant McFadden welcomes Georgia head coach Kirby Smart to discuss his career, the Bulldogs and the state of college football. And these two go way back! Smart picked up BMac at the airport on his official visit to UGA in December of 1999 and 21 years later, they chop it up on All Things Covered. Kirby details how challenging 2020 was (3:30) and what to expect in Friday's Peach Bowl vs. Cincinnati (6:00). He also shares his thoughts on the College Football Playoff and which teams deserved to make the field this year (7:15). Justin Fields is in the playoff but used to be at UGA, as we hear a reason that may have pushed him to the transfer portal (11:00). Kirby also discloses his Heisman Trophy pick, and it's someone Georgia fans are unfortunately very familiar with (13:15). The conversation then shifts to an interesting career path (16:30) that included stops at Florida State as a GA, where he encountered BMac once again, linking up with Nick Saban at LSU, then following him to the Dolphins and Alabama and finally getting his chance to be a head coach at his alma mater. We revisit the painful 2017 National Championship loss (33:10) and check in on recruiting (37:30) before our Superlatives (39:05).
