A private school in Miami is requiring its students who get to COVID vaccine to quarantine for 30 days in case they "shed." The American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the Children's Hospital association have declared a national emergency for children's mental health, stating that mental health challenges experienced by youth were made worse by the pandemic. As supply chain issues continue across the US, people have taken to hoarding food.

On Monday, week over week attendance was down about 7% at Clovis Unified and 2% at Fresno Unified. The family of Henrietta Lacks, the woman whose cells have been used in medical breakthroughs ranging from the polio vaccine to cancer treatments, and are currently for sale from a biotech company, is suing for justice and restitution. They claim that her cells were tested and reproduced without consent. Jury selection has started in the trial of Ahmaud Arbery's death in Brunswick, GA on Feb. 23, 2020. Three have been charged in his death that was recorded by one of the defendants and later circulated online, sparking outrage nationwide.

Welcome to COVID Free Friday! A couple of school updates. Columbia Elementary and Kepler Neighborhood School were on lockdown this morning after a man with a gun was spotted near the campuses. Students at Clovis West High School were sent home at lunchtime after a construction worker nicked a waterline and there wasn't enough water pressure for working bathrooms or fire sprinklers. In response to reports that children were being kept in unacceptable conditions at a CPS facility in Downtown Fresno, the county's Chief Administrative Officer states that he was unaware of conditions until this week and that “We are going to do whatever we have to do to properly take care of these kids.” Listeners comment.
