After thunderstorms hit the North Coast on Monday, June 30th, multiple lightning-caused fires were discovered in the Six Rivers National Forest. With more lightning expected this evening under the red-flag-warning in effect until 11 p.m. tonight, firefighters ask residents to remain vigilant. Lisa Music reports. 

Organized by the Humboldt Creative Alliance, One Village Many Peoples: Humboldt Multi Cultural Festival comes to McKinleyville's Pierson Park on July 5th. We spoke with Yurok basket weaver Teresa Surbaugh and Hip Hop Humbold's David Hayne to learn more about thier involvmenet with the festival, and with the community. 

Home in Humboldt is the name for an upcoming branding and marketing campaign for Humboldt County.  Backed by most of the area’s major employers, including the hospitals, colleges business organizations, and the county itself, the campaign represents the most concentrated effort to-date to get qualified staff to not just come to the county, but stay here too.

Southern Humboldt has been without local veterinary service for 15 months. All this time, residents in the area have had to go to Willits or Fortuna to seek medical care for their animals. This is a part of a nation-wide pattern. All over the country, rural areas are seeing their vets quit or retire, unable to find replacements to take over their practices.

A Humboldt County supportive housing project is cleared for development after responding to neighborhood concerns. Daniel Mintz reports.
