The party has one last opportunity to plan, talk, and get ready for their confrontation with Meurgic. Quis has a heart to heart with Leroy. Trouble has a heart to heart with Abiil. Grorg has a heart to heart with Jonathan. Raner has like, three heart to heart conversation. Oh, and Eloise gets a cool weapon upgrade.

Raner and crew are standing on top of a mountain having done the impossible. So now what? It's time to ask questions, assess resources, and create a plan. It turns out their new ally has a lot more to bring to the table than previously thought. While this is going on, an unexpected visitor is brought to the scene. Could this be helpful or take us even further off the rails? Probably both.

Let's take a pause on the main party and catch up on some other characters. Jonathan tours Varden with his brother. Of course, this results in him getting into trouble and bumping into an old "friend". We also see how Katrina and Rhaesh are doing as they finally make it to Sumwyr. As they look for a ship they realize that they aren't alone.

Raner and friends enter into the mountain top passage which reveals something far grander than anything they've seen before. As they confront the spirit within they discover secrets about the world that will change everything. Back in the mountains, Raner asks Eloise a heretical question. Leroy tries to draw Quis back in. And Abiil reals from the recent revelation. All while preparing to lie to a spirit.

Trapped in a fortress for the night, Raner and the team decide it's time to finally solve the mystery of who is the Writer's Assistant. The answer requires a few more clues from Leroy. But once solved it reveals much more than they had anticipated. Meanwhile, Jonathan is on his own journey and experiences the wonder, magic, and bustle of Varden.

The party journeys into the mountains and finds an abandonded fortress. It seems to be defending something very powerful. While there, Raner tries to build a bridge with Leroy. Trouble goes off exploring. Eloise and Grorg talk about their Zodiac signs. And Quis decides that it's time to make himself whole by going to the root of the problem.

As the party is traveling through the jungle they are visited by a chaotic new enemy. How did they get to the jungle? Well let's take a trip back to the Gate to find that answer. This enemy's arrival results in the party confronting one of their biggest threats, themselves. Will friendship be enough to overcome these threats?
