Episode 27: Everything Ends?

Meditate on the word 'end' and begin to list everything that comes to mind. Do anxious feelings arise, or is there a sense of exhilaration? Does it bring on a feeling of finality or continuation? As Jim and Katie discuss in this episode: everything ends. 

Or does it? Knitting is a great example. Knitting to the ‘end of the row or round’ doesn’t usually mean the project itself has come to an end. It’s just one step towards a bigger goal and a great analogy for life. 

By the end of this episode, you may begin to have new feelings on the subject matter.

Many physics, tarot readers, mediums, magical workers and more claim to 'connect' to something in order to receive information. However, few describe what that sensation actually feels like. In this episode 26: Let's Get Connected, Katie and Jim compare how they feel when 'connecting' and methods to explore it yourself.

This technique isn't just used for divination. It's also utilized during moments of intense joy and concentration. Imagine yogis, artists, and musicians....they're all tapping into the same 'connected' state as we describe above, yet we're all using it in slightly different ways. Even if you don't consider yourself 'artistic' or 'sensitive', we guarantee you've experienced this connected state. Perhaps you've found yourself in a daydream for example? If so, congrats! You've 'connected' and not even realized it!

It makes sense that a culture like the Celts, who worshiped nature, would find ways to bring those elements into items they'd utilize as a way to encompass their qualities. The fact that the ‘Aran Jumper’ aka fisherman knit sweater, grew out of a small island where it was used for necessity from the weather and for identification purposes, to something we now do in our free-time for pleasure is pretty mind blowing in itself.

When Katie first had the idea for this episode, her concept was simple: compare the shapes of the Ouroboros & Moebius with some background regarding their knitting and magical influences, as she and Jim often do.

However, as Katie began her research into deepening their connections, it quickly became obvious that there was a much bigger theme at the heart of this circular theme. Even the research seemed to go in a circular path to discover the real story of this episode and as you’ll soon hear, it’s a lot more deep than either of us anticipated!

Episode 20: The Sun & The Moon

September is all about SYMBOLOGY at Knit A Spell so Katie and Jim are started BIG with The Sun & The Moon! These two symbols are big themes in many areas of life, energy, astrology, and divination to name a few.

Jim expands on The Sun and The Moon meanings in palmistry and astrology while Katie reflects on her view of them in the world of tarot cards. The relationship between these two symbols goes beyond the obvious relationship between day and night or dark and light. Jim blows Katie’s mind by describing Moon energy as mutable, cyclical and moves in spirals while
Sun energy is cardinal and moves up and down.

Katie also reveals a new design to Jim in this episode called the Sun & Moon Shawl - debuting on Ravelry today (9/1/21)! Designed with the symbology of The Sun card and The Moon card in tarot in mind, this design encompasses color magic, stitch symbolism, and is available in two different sizes depending on the yarn.
