Knit A Spell - Episode 19: Ritual Making Plus Knitting Circles vs Witches Covens 

Have you ever woken up and realized several hours later you’re at work without really remembering getting there? It might be time to invite a little ritual into your routine! In this week’s episode, Jim and Katie discuss the differences between routine (things we repeat) and ritual (things we do) both magically and in making. 

Jim and Katie also nerd out about how circles are everywhere and make up everything! Think of the iconic knights of the round table, magic circles, even cakes of yarn are wound from a circular hank to a circular cake or ball of yarn which is made up of tubular yarn and fibers! A circle removes hierarchy and promotes a natural balance where everything/one is seen or heard. What comes to mind when you think of the magic of a circle? 

Katie and Jim also dish about the pros and cons of being involved in social or 'work’ groups. How can someone move on from feeling overwhelmed by bad past experiences? Jim has examples from his coven! 

Jim also reveals to Katie Forest Jones’ ‘What is a Coven’ which outlines the specifics of what is and isn’t part of being involved in a coven. Knit A Spell - Episode 18: Patterns As Spells & Divination for Design 

On Episode 18 of Knit A Spell, we get Jim’s take on what a ‘SPELL’ is and tips on how to incorporate them. Spoiler alert: they’re patterns! Which conveniently ties back to magical making aspects of blending spells into knitting/crochet/cooking recipes/etc! Accessing these patterns help us see wisdom, and intuit through divination mediums like tarot with examples given by Katie. 

We also gloss over several other methods of divination including palmistry, astrology, runes, pendulums, muscle response, the way your loaf of bread rises AND SO MANY MORE! Even divining poo - seriously.

KNIT A SPELL - Episode 17: Magic & Making Collide w/ Ana Campos (Circle of Stitches)

In Episode 17of Knit A Spell, Katie and Jim welcome guest Ana Campos: a practicing witch, tarot reader and teacher, yarn dyer, knitwear designer, and owner of Circle of Stitches in Salem, MA. Ana is like the ice cream swirl of Katie’s making and Jim’s magical backgrounds and is a firm believer that knitting is the perfect pallet for spell work.

Ana shares her inspiring story of discovering Laurie Cabot's books while growing up in Brazil and how this became the inspiration for her to eventually move to Salem and meet Laurie herself! BTW - Ana is a 3rd degree Cabot witch.

Ana also spills a little ’T’ on some customer interactions - how could we not? Blessings upon you! Also - did you know you need a license to practice Tarot in Salem? We didn’t either!
