We've spent the first ten episodes talking about wedding chaos, difficult families, questionable guests, things people secretly judge and even picking apart our own wedding.
So, for once, we're going to be helpful. 😂
In Episode 11, we're sharing the wedding advice we'd genuinely give to couples planning their big day - based on what we've learned from years of working in weddings and from making plenty of mistakes ourselves.
We're talking about:
💸 Budget first, venue second - why falling in love with a venue before working out your priorities can cause absolute carnage later.
👀 Stop asking everyone for their opinion - family, friends, Instagram and the inevitable “well, when I got married…”
💍 Work out what actually matters to you - and if you genuinely don't care about something, stop spending hours making a decision about it.
🤝 Choosing your suppliers - why personality, communication and trust matter just as much as a beautiful Instagram feed.
⏰ Don't cram every second of your wedding day - because your wedding isn't an Olympic event and you don't need to be somewhere every three minutes.
🌅 Our niche wedding tip: steal 20 minutes from your wedding day and spend it together. No guests, no family, no phones - just the two of you.
🌧️ Have a Plan B - but make sure it's a Plan B you'd actually be happy with.
🎶 Where we'd spend the money - and why entertainment is something we really don't think couples should scrimp on.
Because ultimately, our biggest piece of advice is pretty simple:
Don't plan the wedding everyone else thinks you should have. Plan the wedding you'll actually remember.
Four years married… would we actually do our wedding the same way again?
In this episode, we’re getting brutally honest about our own wedding — the bits we loved, the things we’d happily spend money on again, the things we absolutely wouldn’t, and the things we stressed over that, in hindsight, really didn’t matter.
We’re talking about:
💍 The moments we remember most — from Precious’ brother officiating the ceremony to Sean crying his way through the entire thing.
😂 The things that still make us laugh — including a slightly confused best man, pints of Jägerbombs and a first dance that didn’t quite go to plan.
💸 The things that were worth every penny… and the £450 wedding cake we probably should have skipped.
🍽️ Why spending around £20k on catering ended up being one of the most stressful parts of the day.
🎀 The tiny details Precious cared way too much about — and the things Sean absolutely did not care about.
👯♀️ The biggest thing Precious would change: people pleasing, the wedding morning and not spending enough time with her sisters.
🎶 Why entertainment was one thing we definitely wouldn't scrimp on — and why the dancefloor is still one of our favourite memories.
💑 What four years of marriage has taught us about each other, working together and standing up for your partner.
⚡ Plus, we put each other through Rapid Fire, before getting properly honest with our “Oh Fuck It” questions.
And, of course, we answer the big one:
Would we have the same wedding again?
This one is a little more personal than usual, but hopefully there are plenty of things you can steal for your own wedding — particularly the bits we've learned the hard way.
Knot Your Average Wedding Podcast is hosted by husband-and-wife wedding planners Precious and Sean of Green Lily Events — bringing you the honest, funny and occasionally chaotic side of weddings.
Are your guests really judging your wedding? Or are we all just secretly noticing the same ridiculous little things?
In this episode of Knot Your Average Wedding Podcast, we’re having a laugh about the things guests notice at weddings — from the moment they arrive right through to the dancefloor.
We’re talking about:
Plus, we put one of the biggest modern wedding debates in Wedding Court: Should phones be banned at weddings?
And, as always, we finish with Unknot This — our top tip for couples who are worrying about what their guests think.
This episode also happens to be a special one for us as it goes live on our fourth wedding anniversary, so we're reflecting on our own wedding, four years of marriage, and everything we've learned from working hundreds of weddings since.
Because ultimately, your guests aren't walking around with a clipboard marking your wedding out of ten. They're there to celebrate with you.
