Knowing God

"They joined themselves also to Baal of Peor, and ate sacrifices made to the dead. They provoked Him to anger with their deeds, and the plague broke out among them. Then Phineas stood up and intervened, and the plague stopped. And that was accounted to him for righteousness to all generations forevermore." Psalm 106:28-30.

Have you ever stopped to think what am I idolizing in my life? Is there anything in my life that is not allowing room for God to dwell in me? Is it my phone, is it social media, is it my spouse, my best friend, my children, my house, my car, my job, my business, make up, clothes, myself, and the list goes on! What is taking God place in your life? Imagine how God feels when there is no space in your heart/life for Him!

This week's episode will prick at your heart and cause you to cry out to God for mercy! Grab your bible, your notebook and a cup of tea and let's go!

"God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? Behold, I have received a command to bless; He has blessed, and I cannot reverse it."

These were the words of Balaam during his prophecy to Balak, King of Moab, who wanted Balaam to curse the Israelites. No one can curse God's children, especially when He has blessed us!

1st John 3:1-2 says, "Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is."

Balak did not want to accept the Israelites which is the same thing as not accepting God, so he could not see who was protecting them. The same way in these last days, people will not accept Jesus and will therefore not accept us. Jesus said we will be persecuted for His sake. But there is a promise to us and where we are going after this life - Revelations 22 gives a wonderful image of this promise!

I do hope this episode resonates with you and causes and deeper hunger for the Lord in Jesus name!

The wilderness season is a place many Christians are in today and how we respond on this journey will determine the effectiveness of what God is doing in our lives!

The Israelites discontentment continues in this episode; their lack of faith and trust in God caused the wrath of God to come upon them. Moses commits another terrible mistake that cost him and Aaron including the generation of Israelites to lose the opportunity to enter into the Promise Land.

Self-reflection question: Do I complain all the time? Am I content with what God has blessed me with? Do I blame others for the things that I have no control over?

I pray that this episode, helps you to understand the importance of the decision you made to accept Jesus into your life!

"But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of god, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy." - 1 Peter 2:9-10

In this episode, we learn about the duties of the priests and the Levites concerning their responsibilities as servants who continually minister to God on behalf of the people. The priests had a huge responsibility and with it came accountability. There was no room for error because they are separated unto God for the purposes of sin atonement on behalf of the Israelites.

Thank God for Jesus Christ who became the ultimate sacrifice for us; we now have access to God the Father through the Son! We don't have to go through a veil for it has been torn. Instead of goats, sheep, rams and birds, we offer ourselves to the Lord as a living sacrifice!

Romans 12:1 says, "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service."

Contending with God is the biggest mistake a human can ever make, but the Kohathites from the Tribe of Levi thought their plans to bring Moses and Aaron down would work - it only led to their utter destruction.

As a body of Christ, it is so important to maintain order and organization and respect the leaders that have been put in positions to shepherd you. Especially if you have witnessed the Hand of God move through the appointed leader.

I pray this week's episode convicts your heart and reminds you to stop complaining and to start praising!

Isn't it quite annoying when someone you help is always complaining and never grateful despite everything you've done for them? No matter what you do for them, they find a way to complain and would go as far as dragging your name in the mud to make you look bad? Well, that was the behavior of the Israelites again!!

They finally got report of the land flowing with milk and honey is indeed enriched, yet the fear of the inhabitants of the land scared them from believing God's plan to give them that very same land. Imagine how God felt and still feels when we think His plan is taking too long or the process to fulfilling His plan is intolerable? He isn't so happy!

What if Jesus never came to save us? We would all be distinct by now because we all complain! Thank God for Jesus!

"Touch not my anointed ones and do my prophets no harm." 1 Chronicles 16:22. I am sure we have all heard this scripture beingg recited many times! Well in this week's episode, we definitely see this verse in action when Miriam and Aaron find the audacity to speak against Moses' choice of a wife.

We are also familiar with the scripture, "for we walk by faith and not by sight..." 2 Corinthians 5:7. God made a promise to the Israelites that He would bring them to a land flowing with milk and honey, however, they doubted. Despite the signs, wonders and miracles, they still doubted.

How did the Lord address this faithless generation? Well, you'd have to tune in, to find out!

God takes us through the wilderness journey and in the process we are praying ceaselessly, waiting patiently and seeking His Face for answers or instructions. During the wilderness journey, God is pruning us and purging us of the things that takes His place in our hearts. But we aren't given a timeline, a date or an inkling of an idea of when the process will be complete; so we begin to complain, to doubt, to almost throw in the towel.

Well, in these two chapters, we see how God responds to a complaining and ungrateful people. In the place of waiting, God never left them, they never went hungry, His presence was always with them. Yet, they complained and even desired to go back to Egypt aka bondage.

I pray this episode inspires you to wait on the Lord and be of good courage; knowing that all our needs are supplied according to His riches and glory by Christ Jesus.
